This client asked me to provide them with ample storage in their ski vacation condo's kitchen. I wanted to take advantage of the end wall to maximize the countertop and give them more storage with a cabinet under the new range that is 92" wide. Even though the cabinet is well supported, the cabinet opening has no center divider which would hinder any individual seeking out pots and kettles from below. The other elements fell into logical places including a generous pantry to the right of the refrigerator. In trying to maintain the sleek look of the backsplash, I worked diligently with the electrician to avoid outlets in the backsplash area as much as possible using Task Lighting's angled power strips. I love working with the outlet strips that tuck up under the cabinetry; they are brilliantly discreet. One of the special elements in this kitchen is the log pedestal base under the cantilevered bar top that is a continuation of the cap on the half wall. This log is from my neighbor's tree which they were cutting down in perfect timing with this renovation. Other components from this same tree are incorporated elsewhere in the condo. The primary objective of this project was to create the ability to install a refrigerator sized for a family of six. The original 14 cubic foot capacity refrigerator was much too small for a four-bedroom home. Additional objects included providing wider (safer) isles, more counter space for food preparation and gathering, and more accessible storage. After installing a beaming above the original refrigerator and dual walk-in pantries (missing despite being in the original building plans), this area of the kitchen was opened up to make room for a much larger refrigerator, pantry storage, small appliance storage, and a concealed information center including backpack storage for the youngest family members (complete with an in-drawer PDAs charging station). By relocating the sink, the isle between the island and the range became much less congested and provided space for below counter pull-out pantries for oils, vinegars, condiments, baking sheets and more. Taller cabinets on the new sink wall provides improved storage for dishes. The kitchen is now more conducive to frequent entertaining but is cozy enough for a family that cooks and eats together on a night basis. The beautiful materials, natural light and marine view are the icing on the cake.

Fu-Tung Cheng, CHENG Design • Kitchen with Concrete Island, Cheng Padova Hood, Bamboo Flooring, House 6 Concrete and Wood Home House 6, is Cheng Design’s sixth custom home project, was redesigned and constructed from top-to-bottom. Our Oxford Square kitchen is in an open plan arrangement with the dining room and living space adjacent. Two huge skylights fill the space with light. The custom back splash tile is by Arto Brick of Los Angeles. Opening wall system by Panoramic Doors will connect the kitchen to outdoor living space. (Note that the deck and landscaping have yet to be installed as of this photo.)

In Lower Kennydale we build a transitional home with a bright open feel. The beams on the main level give you the styling of a loft with lots of light. We hope you enjoy the bamboo flooring and custom metal stair system. The second island in the kitchen offers more space for cooking and entertaining. The bedrooms are large and the basement offers extra storage and entertaining space as well.

All new stainless steel appliances, and a brand new bamboo floor! A modern spin on a beautiful home in Pleasanton, California. We Feng Shui'ed the space, and performed a sage cleansing and blessing. Then we designed a staging game plan, which we implemented with our staging partner, No. 1 Staging of Santa Clara.

I had a clear vision of what I wanted in this space. I designed the acrylic and walnut under bench area with LED lighting and had them build this exactly to my specifications. Swivel Counter Stools I purchased from www.eurway.com and they were very reasonably priced. Caesar Stone waterfall bench top is a new finish with a subtle grey marble effect running through it.
