This La Jolla condo, located steps away from Wind n Sea beach was our client's third home we completed for them in San Diego. As vacation rental property owners, this Texas couple plans on making this their retirement escape in the years to come. In the meantime, the design had to be suitable for short time renters. Keeping our clients' needs in mind, the interior design was geared to appeal to the out of towners. With a focus on durability, clean, simple and modern coastal design, we're all pretty certain this little gem is going to stand out amongst its competition. The formula is pretty simple, but our job is to make it happen! :) Most of the furnishings were custom-made to fit the space perfectly, taking advantage of every inch and maximizing the space. Doubling up 2 full size beds in each of the guest rooms made this vacation rental property perfect for families and large groups. One of our biggest challenges? Finding pieces we loved that had no metal accents! ((The salt air takes its toll on those pieces faster than you'd ever guess when you're this close to the ocean!) This gorgeous European Poggenpohl Kitchen is the culinary center of this new modern home for a young urban family. The homeowners had an extensive list of objectives for their new kitchen. It needed to accommodate formal and non-formal entertaining of guests and family, intentional storage for a variety of items with specific requirements, and use durable and easy to maintain products while achieving a sleek contemporary look that would be a stage and backdrop for their glorious artwork collection. Solution: A large central island acts as a gathering place within the great room space. The tall cabinetry items such as the ovens and refrigeration are grouped on the wall to keep the rest of the kitchen very light and open. Luxury Poggenpohl cabinetry and Caesarstone countertops were selected for their supreme durability and easy maintenance. Warm European oak flooring is contrasted by the gray textured Poggenpohl cabinetry flattered by full width linear Poggenphol hardware. The tall aluminum toe kick on the island is lit from underneath to give it a light and airy luxurious feeling. To further accent the illuminated toe, the surface to the left of the range top is fully suspended 18” above the finished floor. A large amount of steel and engineering work was needed to achieve the floating of the large Poggenpohl cabinet at the end of the peninsula. A contemporary penthouse apartment in St John's Wood in a converted church. Right next to the famous Beatles crossing next to the Abbey Road . The high ceilings in the centre are now fully utilised with a curved steel mezzanine, clad with frameless glazing and overlooking the kitchen, living and dining area below. The frameless glazing and a new walnut and oak staircase follow down to the main level. The new kitchen comes with a wide range cooker, fridge/freezer drawers, an island unit with wine fridge and full height storage. A custom shaped stainless steel worktop contrasts well with the adjacent concrete walls and splash backs.

Design Connection, Inc. was chosen by this client through reviews on Angie’s List. She wanted a transitional style in her newly purchased 25 year old villa located near Town Center Plaza in Leawood. The kitchen was dated and the appliances were the originals. We designed and furnished the entire residence. It was important to conserve money in places we where could, like resurfacing and revamping the existing kitchen cabinets. New Cambria countertops were selected for the color and ease of maintenance. With the assistance of Design Connection, Inc., new appliances were selected from Factory Direct. The backsplash tile is a tailed style, which complement the furnishings in the room. New under cabinet lights bathe the backsplash and the countertops in this beautiful Overland Park kitchen by Design Connection, Inc.

Normandy Designer Chris Ebert recommended removing the existing peninsula, which was creating an unwanted barrier between the kitchen and seating area, and not utilizing the full potential of the space. The peninsula was replaced with an island, meeting several of the homeowners’ needs. The new island created a better flow in the kitchen, added storage space and more seating than the perimeter had provided.
