A glamorous yet warm kitchen we designed for long-time clients. They requested natural wood, clean design, stainless steel and black accents, , and a very functional working space. We designed interior architecture, layout, all cabinets, lighting, materials, and furniture to implement a very personal vision.

This open concept kitchen by Thompson Remodeling involved removing walls to allow open flow from the kitchen into the living and dining rooms. The star of this kitchen is the expansive island, anchored by gorgeous columns with features that include plenty of work space, built-in bookshelves, and seating for three. Perimeter cabinets are maple with a caramel, chocolate glaze finish and the island cabinetry is alder with chestnut finish. Other design details include quartz countertops and ceramic tile flooring and backsplash.

The project includes turnkey construction of the entire architectural space, where the large open space is divided into functional areas – dining and living – by an impressive composition with a T layout that includes the kitchen with island, the living room furniture, and the equipped wall. On linear composition, the kitchen with central island, developed on T45 model, is entirely in Gres Laminam Noir Desir, upon request of the customer. The material continuously covers the sides, the T45 drawer fronts, bins, and storage compartments, and the worktop incorporating a filo top hob and a built-in Gres sink. The painted structure in metal effect creates a linear contrast design that frames the doors and fronts. The composition of columns, designed on model D90, has a natural Birch structure and front elements in Noce Canaletto with an inside handle. The set-up is punctuated by the alternation between storage compartments and appliances supplied such as a fridge column, thermo-regulated cellar with glass door, and ovens columns. The backlit glass cabinet on the bronze structure adds particular charm to the composition, while the retractable doors give access to the auxiliary work area. The cabinets above the ovens are in continuity with the columns and their opening is facilitated by a push & pull mechanism. To delimit the functional space of the two rooms, a central wall has been created with doors in bronzed glass on both sides. Developed on model D90, it has structure and paneling in Noce Canaletto, while internal shelves, equipped with LED lighting, are made of glass. The large open module features asymmetric composition compared to the central module in gres which houses the wood fireplace and home entertainment. The alternation between drawers, storage compartments with flap doors, and open compartments of various heights create a compositional elegance. In continuity with the kitchen furniture, in the living room, a built-in area cabinet has been realized with lower doors in the T45 model, an intermediate suspended unit with flap doors and LED lighting and an upper bookcase unit.

The transition corridor into the kitchen from the dining room was enlarged by taking a limited amount of space from the closets behind allowing for full depth cabinets and a fully integrated Sub-Zero refrigerator. This has become the sine storage area and a wonderful place to serve your guest drinks.

Designer Jodi Tramontin, CMKBD decided to create a "Contemporary Craftsman" inspired kitchen which would flow with the rest of the home's architecture, design and materials. In order to create the perfect Contemporary Craftsman-inspired kitchen, she selected Dura Supreme's popular Lynden door style. The clean, simple lines on the doors rails and stiles along with the beautiful bevel detailing are the perfect complement to the Contemporary Craftsman-inspired kitchen that she wanted to create. After the door style was decided on, it was time to create the color palette. When creating a color palette for a particular space, start by determining what items that will be staying in the room that you’ll need to coordinate with. For example, for Jodi’s new kitchen she needed to work with the existing paint, millwork (casings, trim, interior doors), and hardwood floor colors. “One of the most common questions I get as a designer is "Do my cabinets have to match the rest of the woodwork within the home?" My answer to that question is "No - absolutely not". I love mixing different wood tones within any given space to create a unique and comfortable look.” – Jodi Tramontin, CMKBD After looking at many different options for the cabinet finishes, Jodi decided on Dura Supreme's “Hazelnut stain” on Cherry for the perimeter cabinetry and Dura Supreme’s “Latte” paint on Maple/Paintable for the island. Both of these finishes coordinate beautifully with the existing paint, millwork, and hardwood. Jodi also opted to go with a Low Sheen level on the stained finishes. Dura Supreme's standard sheen level on our stains is a semi-gloss finish while the low sheen is considered a satin finish. The low sheen option is just as strong and durable as our standard sheen. Designed and constructed by Woodways, this Funky Contemporary kitchen adds warmth to this retro styled home. Frameless cabinets with flat panel slab doors create a sleek and crisp look within the space. The accent island adds contrast to the natural colors within the cabinets and backsplash and becomes a focal point for the space. An added sink in the island allows for easy preparation and cleaning of food in this work area.
