What this Mid-century modern home originally lacked in kitchen appeal it made up for in overall style and unique architectural home appeal. A quietly elegant and ultimately fashionable colour scheme with fresh aqua accents for this lovely modern kitchen extension in Lee. German kitchen furniture from Ballerina-Küchen coupled with Compac Moon Quartz worksurfaces and a backpainted glass splashback work well with the warm wooden floor. Esta cocina abierta que hemos hecho integra perfectamente la premisa del estilo nórdico: sencillez cálida y acogedora. Predomina el color blanco, que aporta mucha luminosidad, y el suave tono natural de la madera en el suelo y la encimera. This design boasts it's own private bar area which features a windsor grey quartz worktop and light grey cabinets, providing a practical use of the alcove by creating a seating area, and influenced by copper lighting and accessories, while the cabinetry hides a preparation area hidden by pocket doors. A tall bank of units boxed in by stud walls to create a unique built in look. The kitchen houses Neff slide and hide eye level ovens, a wine cooler, ceiling extraction and an induction hob.

Easy access was the mantra for this kitchen remodel project. Some of the features include the tandem pull-out trash and recycling bins and dual pull-out base pantries. Not photographed is the corner super susan, the pull-out shelves to the right of the prep sink, the tray dividers above the ovens and a custom pot lit holder above the refridgerator. In this kitchen we updated the existing cabinets with new Richelieu transitional brushed nickel knobs and pulls. We installed a 3cm Granite Giallo Napolean with 3/8” bevel edge and 4” high backsplash countertop. The tile backsplash is Durango 3x6 beveled. A Lenova stainless steel undermount sink was installed with a Moen Arbor pull down faucet in stainless steel and a Kichler Keller single bulb pendant with schoolhouse-style glass shade installed over the sink.

A small kitchen needs to be designed by being cognizant of every kitchen item the client owns and when the kitchen is only 90 sq ft, this can be quite challenging! The original kitchen housed a double wall oven, cook top and 36” range. Since space was at a minimum and the client’s list for appliances was extensive (range, warming drawer, wine refrigerator, dishwasher, ref) we had to think quite creatively. We also had 2 doors to contend with and 2 focal points to create! The first step was to move to a 27” wide refrigerator, this gained 9 additional inches of working counter space between the sink and refrigerator. Opting for a 24” wide single bowl sink over the original 30” netted a total of 15” for a tray divider cabinet and 39” of working counter space between the sink and the refrigerator! The new 30” range was positioned as star on the same wall as the existing cook top. Since the space did not lend us the ability to balance the cabinet doors sizes on both sides of the hood, we chose a door style that focused your eyes not on the overall size of the door, but on the vertical detailing. The subtle grain of the Rift White Oak further minimized the odd sizing of the doors. (NOTE: THE COLOURS OF THE KITCHEN ARE REPRESENTED PROPERLY IN THE PHOTO OF THE RANGE WALL) To help create a visual width of the room – we used a glass tile set in a horizontal pattern. Our ultimate goal for this space was to create a calm and flowing space, all appliances are fully integrated to enhance the visual flow to the room.
