I used the rift cut oak to keep the kitchen light while using walnut for contrast and 'drama'. The upper cabinet are raised high than usual to keep an open space feel. There is plenty of storage in the drawers and pantry area.

We gutted and redid the kitchen entirely, it hadn't been touched in 30 years. The cabinets are custom walnut with brushed nickel hardware. The client loves to cook and is thrilled not just with the storage but with the work triangle and easy access counter tops for prep. We had the contemporary counter tops honed to deliver a satiny feeling finish. The sheen is from the recycled glass mosaic backsplash. The sliding doors were removed and the hot water radiator relocated to enrich the functionality and beauty of the kitchen. Glass tiles, leaded glass doors, polished granite, interior cabinet lighting, new ceiling lighting along with cabinets that reach the ceiling were designed to visually expand the space. Reflective surfaces assist in expanding the space, as do glass doors because the mind peers beyond the door's face surface. White cabinets and trim with just enough detail and accent so as not to numb the emotion with a hospital quality further expands the sense of the kitchen space. Creativity and an ability to think "outside the box" are necessary for these gems we describe as "row" homes. Restoration when done well is exciting; it's refreshing and delightful. We can not disassociate our emotions from our environments. Why should we? We should strive to be happy within beauty. Part of the Arts and Crafts Movement in America used as its' motto: the Beautiful, the Useful and the Enduring. For an artisan craftsman or designer the motto holds true today. In our Contemporary Bellevue Residence we wanted the aesthetic to be clean and bright. This is a similar plan to our Victoria Crest home with a few changes and different design elements. Areas of focus; large open kitchen with waterfall countertops and awning upper flat panel cabinets, elevator, interior and exterior fireplaces, floating flat panel vanities in bathrooms, home theater room, large master suite and rooftop deck. These concrete counters sit on custom European style cabinets with long metal pulls. Blue and brown glass subway tiles are a bold finish the wall and back-splash. Small blue glass tiles are inlay, proud of the surface to act as a duvet. The under-mount stainless steel sink features sponge parking and a maple cutting board inset in the counter to cover a drain area under.

Backsplash is made of glass tile, wood flooring, cabinets custom designed by DeBora Rachelle and handmade by Superior Cabinets. Wolf warming drawer and canisters.

This custom built barn door on the pantry is made from cedar planks, stained in alternating colors. It matches wainscoting on the opposite wall of the dining area.
