The primary color scheme of this room uses various shades of blue, to help pop-in coastal undertones. We mixed patterns and straight lines with organic elements to create soft edges.

This young family wanted to update their kitchen and loved getting away to the coast. We tried to bring a little of the coast to their suburban Chicago home. The statement pantry doors with antique mirror add a wonderful element to the space. The large island gives the family a wonderful space to hang out, The custom "hutch' area is actual full of hidden outlets to allow for all of the electronics a place to charge. Warm brass details and the stunning tile complete the area.

This charming Lyon Park house was built in 1925, when the typical kitchen was small, modest and closed-off from the rest of the home. For a family that loves to cook and bake, the cramped, outdated and dysfunctional kitchen was a source of constant frustration. Our new design expanded the kitchen into an adjacent sunroom, opening it up to the rest of the home and creating a spacious, light and updated kitchen that now serves as the heart of the home. We more than doubled the amount of countertop space and added much needed pantry storage as well as a dedicated coffee nook. The bold blue herringbone backsplash, honed black granite, white shaker cabinets and substantial matte black pulls complement the rustic modern style of the adjoining living space.

In this 1905 Tudor home, the intent of this design was to take advantage of the classic architecture of the home and incorporate modern conveniences. Located in the Joseph Berry Subdivision in Detroit, this stellar home presented several design challenges. The most difficult challenge to overcome was the 11” slope from one end of the kitchen to the other, caused by 110 years of settling. All new floor joists were installed and the floor by the side door was then recessed down one step. This created a cozy nook when you first enter the kitchen. A tiered ceiling with strategically planned cabinetry heights and crown molding concealed the slope of the walls at the ceiling level. The second challenge in this historic home was the awkward foot print of the kitchen. It’s likely that this kitchen had a butler’s pantry originally. However it was remodeled sometime in the 70’s and all original character was erased. Clever pantry storage was added to an awkward corner creating a space that mimicked the essence of a butler’s pantry, while providing storage desired in kitchens today. Keeping the large footprint of the kitchen presented obstacles with the working triangle; the distance from the sink to the cooktop is several feet. The solution was installation of a pot filler over the cooktop that added convenience and elegance (not sure about this word). Not everything in this project was a challenge; the discovery of a brick chimney hiding behind plaster was a welcome surprise and brought character back honoring the historic charm of this beautiful home. This kitchen design in Bowie, MD achieved a striking style with two-toned kitchen cabinets. To achieve this custom look and realize the client's design vision we incorporated two different cabinet lines, with Koch Classic "Bristol" in Oyster on the perimeter and HomeCrest "Bexley" in Cadet for the island, both on maple wood. An Olympus quartz "Fortuna" premium countertop complements the white cabinetry, while a Sapele mahogany wood top beautifully accents the blue island. The backsplash at the sink and range wall is Eclipse Grey Wave 4 x 12 glossy glass subway tile, which provides a striking contrast to the white perimeter color palette. The island includes seating with upholstered chairs in a complementary color scheme. A stainless apron front sink pairs perfectly with the Brizo "Tresa" two handled faucet in polished nickel. GE stainless appliances feature throughout the kitchen design, along with a built in microwave and a Brizo pot filler faucet. Beyond the main kitchen cabinets, the design includes a built-in desk with storage. A beverage station with an undercounter beverage refrigerator also incorporates a wine rack, wine glass storage, and narrow glass front cabinets with in cabinet lighting.
