One of the main challenges of the original kitchen was an awkward, oversized peninsula that hindered traffic flow within the room. We repositioned the peninsula cabinetry, transforming it into a well-placed kitchen island that is now accessible from all four sides and offers seating and plenty of storage space. This simple swap greatly improved the overall flow of the kitchen, as did moving the location of the refrigerator to better fit the work triangle.

This kitchen was very 1980s and the homeowners were ready for a change. As amateur chefs, they had a lot of requests and appliances to accommodate but we were up for the challenge. Taking the kitchen back down to the studs, we began to open up their kitchen while providing them plenty of storage to conceal their bulk storage and many small appliances. Replacing their existing refrigerator with a panel-ready column refrigerator and freezer, helped keep the sleek look of the cabinets without being disrupted by appliances. The vacuum sealer drawer is an integrated part as well, hidden by the matching cabinet drawer front. Even the beverage cooler has a door that matches the cabinetry of the island. The stainless, professional-grade gas range stands out amongst the white cabinets and its brass touches match the cabinet hardware, faucet, pot-filler, and veining through the quartzite. The show-stopper of this kitchen is this amazing book-matched quartzite with its deep blues and brass veining and this incredible sink that was created out of it as well, to continue the continuity of this kitchen. The enormous island is covered with the same stone but with the dark wood, it provides a dramatic flair. The mercury glass pendants, do not distract but complete the look. Appointment Information Unlike full showrooms open to the general public, Main Line Kitchen Design works only by appointment. Appointments can be scheduled days, nights, and weekends either in your home or in our office and selection center. During office appointments we display clients kitchens on a flat screen TV and help them look through 100’s of sample doorstyles, almost a thousand sample finish blocks and sample kitchen cabinets. During home visits we can bring samples, take measurements, and make design changes on laptops showing you what your kitchen can look like in the very room being renovated. This is more convenient for our customers and it eliminates the expense of staffing and maintaining a larger space that is open to walk in traffic. My homeowner LOVES the color blue! We found this amazing Muse Interlude Sapphire Matte Tile in a diamond shape with 3 different finishes. It just popped off the wall at us. The tiles are all the same shade of blue but some are shiny translucent, some are frosted and some are iridescent. They add just right amount of blue to the room.

We made a couple (or more :)) of architectural changes - added 2 windows by the range, widened significantly a hallway to the office allowing a person working in the kitchen to have a glimpse of the lake's view, changed the designation of the rooms (the dining room became an office for her, the breakfast room is a Dining room now...

Converting the old peninsula to an island dramatically improved the traffic pattern in this kitchen, particularly as it relates to the adjacent family room.

Complimenting the house's light colored walls and soft lighting, a beautiful White Carrara Marble was chosen to compliment and take precedence over the design of the space. With its mesmerizing soft gray veining, it adds great character to the space.

This condo we addressed the layout and making changes to the layout. By opening up the kitchen and turning the space into a great room. With the dining/bar, lanai, and family adding to the space giving it a open and spacious feeling. Then we addressed the hall with its too many doors. Changing the location of the guest bedroom door to accommodate a better furniture layout.
