Dans cette nouvelle création, les propriétaires se sont orientés sur une valeur sûre : le mariage du blanc et du bois, souligné par des touches en acier. Des allures scandinaves pour un espace à la fois épuré et chaleureux. Encore une fois les rangements sont nombreux. L’îlot central qui sert également de coin repas pour deux personnes assure parfaitement la liaison entre la cuisine et le salon. La lumière naturelle traverse la pièce le jour, les spots intégrés prennent le relai la nuit. This project is best described in one word: Fun – Oh wait, and bold! This homes mid-century modern construction style was inspiration that married nicely to our clients request to also have a home with a glamorous and lux vibe. We have a long history of working together and the couple was very open to concepts but she had one request: she loved blue, in any and all forms, and wanted it to be used liberally throughout the house. This new-to-them home was an original 1966 ranch in the Calvert area of Lincoln, Nebraska and was begging for a new and more open floor plan to accommodate large family gatherings. The house had been so loved at one time but was tired and showing her age and an allover change in lighting, flooring, moldings as well as development of a new and more open floor plan, lighting and furniture and space planning were on our agenda. This album is a progression room to room of the house and the changes we made. We hope you enjoy it! This was such a fun and rewarding project and In the end, our Musician husband and glamorous wife had their forever dream home nestled in the heart of the city.

We placed the high cabinets and larger elements against the wall that runs through the middle of the apartment. That way we could place the lower cupboards and the more light-weight, wall-mounted wooden shelves in the more luminous part of the room. This optimizes the amount of light coming in while respecting the original stucco in the ceiling and the wooden window sills. In close collaboration with the owners, we chose a smaller radiator and placed it on the wall right by the door, which worked out very well: “It’s small adjustments like this one that make the kitchen feel as if it had always been there,” the owner said.

This homeowner has long since moved away from his family farm but still visits often and thought it was time to fix up this little house that had been neglected for years. He brought home ideas and objects he was drawn to from travels around the world and allowed a team of us to help bring them together in this old family home that housed many generations through the years. What it grew into is not your typical 150 year old NC farm house but the essence is still there and shines through in the original wood and beams in the ceiling and on some of the walls, old flooring, re-purposed objects from the farm and the collection of cherished finds from his travels. Photo by Alan Tansey This East Village penthouse was designed for nocturnal entertaining. Reclaimed wood lines the walls and counters of the kitchen and dark tones accent the different spaces of the apartment. Brick walls were exposed and the stair was stripped to its raw steel finish. The guest bath shower is lined with textured slate while the floor is clad in striped Moroccan tile.
