This formerly small and cramped kitchen switched roles with the extra large eating area resulting in a dramatic transformation that takes advantage of the nice view of the backyard. The small kitchen window was changed to a new patio door to the terrace and the rest of the space was “sculpted” to suit the new layout. A Classic U-shaped kitchen layout with the sink facing the window was the best of many possible combinations. The primary components were treated as “elements” which combine for a very elegant but warm design. The fridge column, custom hood and the expansive backsplash tile in a fabric pattern, combine for an impressive focal point. The stainless oven tower is flanked by open shelves and surrounded by a pantry “bridge”; the eating bar and drywall enclosure in the breakfast room repeat this “bridge” shape. The walnut island cabinets combine with a walnut butchers block and are mounted on a pedestal for a lighter, less voluminous feeling. The TV niche & corkboard are a unique blend of old and new technologies for staying in touch, from push pins to I-pad. The light walnut limestone floor complements the cabinet and countertop colors and the two ceiling designs tie the whole space together.

Greg Hadley Our designer selected materials that blend the design backgrounds of both of the owners—it’s an Asian-Norwegian style blend. It has both clean lines of European designs and wood tones that give it an organic feel of Asian style. Our designer wanted the space to feel light, so he used darker colors for the base cabinets and perimeter countertops, which allow the space to feel lighter as your eyes move vertically.

Greg Hadley We incorporated the original seating area into the kitchen design. Three stools fit under the new island for casual seating that is close to the prep and living areas. The clients cut directly on the walnut butcher block when they are preparing meals. The large expanse allows for both the husband and wife to prepare meals together.

Il s'agit de la toute première maison entièrement construite par Mon Concept Habitation ! Autre particularité de ce projet : il a été entièrement dirigé à distance. Nos clients sont une famille d'expatriés, ils étaient donc peu présents à Paris. Mais grâce à notre processus et le suivi du chantier via WhatsApp, les résultats ont été à la hauteur de leurs attentes.

Formerly used as Council offices, a B-listed villa in Milngavie was restored and returned to residential use as a combination of luxury apartments with attached townhouse. The original property had been much altered over the years, with successive layers of remodelling and fabric revealed during the refurbishment. Working closely with the contractor and client on-site, the design was constantly fine-tuned all the way through to completion in order to ensure the best possible end result.
