This project was purposefully neutralized in ocean grays and blues with accents that mirror a drama filled sunset. This achieves a calming effect as the sun rises in the early morning. At high noon we strived for balance of the senses with rich textures that both soothe and excite. Under foot is a plush midnight ocean blue rug that emulates walking on water. Tactile fabrics and velvet pillows provide interest and comfort. As the sun crescendos, the oranges and deep blues in both art and accents invite you and the night to dance inside your home. Lighting was an intriguing challenge and was solved by creating a delicate balance between natural light and creative interior lighting solutions.

A contemporary holiday home located on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula featuring rammed earth walls, timber lined ceilings and flagstone floors. This home incorporates strong, natural elements and the joinery throughout features custom, stained oak timber cabinetry and natural limestone benchtops. This was a beautiful kitchen we fabricated, using quartersawn sapele wood. There is a horizontal grain match. The appliances are Wolf / Subzero. The countertops are soapstone (not currently oiled). The contractor is Zred, and architect is Michael JK Olsen.

Portola Valley hillside family sanctuary with custom cast glass table made from a local glass artist serves as a pass through to the breakfast/potegere garden outside of the kitchen. The varying heights of the walls and surfaces support optimal ergonomics for the function of each element.

The kitchen's color palette is a careful blend of warm and cool colors, smooth and rough textures, old an new things. Luminous stainless steel cabinets are offset by tumbled marble flooring and backsplash tiles in warm each tones of sienna, ivory and straw. Monochromatic limestone countertops are complemented by the swirling pattern of the ash burl topped dining table. State of the art kitchen equipment abound. It is an ideal place for this Carnegie Hill family of four to relax. The kitchen area has a simple layout with the handy working triangle design between range, refrigerator, and sink. There is ample counter space and plenty of storage including tall utility and pantry cabinets. The stainless steel cabinet surfaces are easy to maintain, and the limestone counters have been sealed to resist stains.

This lovely Thousand Oaks home was completely remodeled throughout. Spaces included in this project were the kitchen, four bathrooms, office, entertainment room and master suite. Custom walnut cabinetry was given a clear coat finish to allow the natural wood color to stand out and be admired. The limestone counters are stunning and the waterfall edges add a contemporary flare. Oak wood floors were given new life with a custom walnut stain. Distinctive Decor 2016. All Rights Reserved.
