This beautiful 2 story kitchen remodel was created by removing an unwanted bedroom. The increased ceiling height was conceived by adding some structural columns and a triple barrel arch, creating a usable balcony that connects to the original back stairwell and overlooks the Kitchen as well as the Greatroom. This dramatic renovation took place without disturbing the original 100yr. old stone exterior and maintaining the original french doors above the balcony.

The existing 3000 square foot colonial home was expanded to more than double its original size. The end result was an open floor plan with high ceilings, perfect for entertaining, bathroom for every bedroom, closet space, mudroom, and unique details ~ all of which were high priorities for the homeowner. This was a huge kitchen remodel, we had to completely re-arrange all the appliances. the cabinets and countertops were the easy part, we have a little shop that provides both with no delay, however, it was a lot of plumbing and electrical work and leading out the vent to the exterior. The floor and walls had to be leveled for the new tile and cabinets. This project took us 5 weeks to complete and our designer worked closely with the clients to render them the kitchen they want and we just followed the plan.

Todd and Theresa chose Giallo Ornamental granite to top their Shiloh Cabinetry Aspen cabinets with full overlay doors and slab drawer fronts in maple wood with soft white paint.

The unique design challenge in this early 20th century Georgian Colonial was the complete disconnect of the kitchen to the rest of the home. In order to enter the kitchen, you were required to walk through a formal space. The homeowners wanted to connect the kitchen and garage through an informal area, which resulted in building an addition off the rear of the garage. This new space integrated a laundry room, mudroom and informal entry into the re-designed kitchen. Additionally, 25” was taken out of the oversized formal dining room and added to the kitchen. This gave the extra room necessary to make significant changes to the layout and traffic pattern in the kitchen. By creating a large furniture style island to comfortably seat 3, possibilities were opened elsewhere on exterior walls. A spacious hearth was created to incorporate a 48” commercial range in the existing nook area. The space gained from the dining room allowed for a fully integrated refrigerator and microwave drawer. This created an “L” for prep and clean up with room for a small wine bar and pantry storage. Many specialty items were used to create a warm beauty in this new room. Custom cabinetry with inset doors and a hand painted, glazed finish paired well with the gorgeous 3 ½” thick cherry island top. While working with this couple on their master bathroom, they asked us to renovate their kitchen which was still in the 70’s and needed a complete demo and upgrade utilizing new modern design and innovative technology and elements. We transformed an indoor grill area with curved design on top to a buffet/serving station with an angled top to mimic the angle of the ceiling. Skylights were incorporated for natural light and the red brick fireplace was changed to split face stacked travertine which continued over the buffet for a dramatic aesthetic. The dated island, cabinetry and appliances were replaced with bark-stained Hickory cabinets, a larger island and state of the art appliances. The sink and faucet were chosen from a source in Chicago and add a contemporary flare to the island. An additional buffet area was added for a tv, bookshelves and additional storage. The pendant light over the kitchen table took some time to find exactly what they were looking for, but we found a light that was minimalist and contemporary to ensure an unobstructed view of their beautiful backyard. The result is a stunning kitchen with improved function, storage, and the WOW they were going for.
