Bright colors and white cabinets were utilized to contrast the wood paneling and wood floors left untouched in the adjacent original living room. Boxford, MA kitchen renovation designed by north of Boston kitchen design showroom Heartwood Kitchens. This kitchen includes white painted cabinetry with a glaze and dark wood island. Heartwood included a large, deep boxed out window on the window wall to brighten up the kitchen. The kitchen was renovated to create a brighter and more functional space for entertaining. An earth-based, neutral color palette in combination with a wall of windows overlooking the backyard creates a serene feeling. The focal point of the kitchen is an expansive center island topped with an unusually large, single slab of Victoria Falls quartzite that features a continuous wave of grain throughout the stone. Off of the kitchen, the three season room was converted to an insulated, four season breakfast room. Tall windows with transoms above and paneling below accentuate the feeling of being in a sunroom.

Well-traveled. Relaxed. Timeless. Our well-traveled clients were soon-to-be empty nesters when they approached us for help reimagining their Presidio Heights home. The expansive Spanish-Revival residence originally constructed in 1908 had been substantially renovated 8 year prior, but needed some adaptations to better suit the needs of a family with three college-bound teens. We evolved the space to be a bright, relaxed reflection of the family’s time together, revising the function and layout of the ground-floor rooms and filling them with casual, comfortable furnishings and artifacts collected abroad. One of the key changes we made to the space plan was to eliminate the formal dining room and transform an area off the kitchen into a casual gathering spot for our clients and their children. The expandable table and coffee/wine bar means the room can handle large dinner parties and small study sessions with similar ease. The family room was relocated from a lower level to be more central part of the main floor, encouraging more quality family time, and freeing up space for a spacious home gym. In the living room, lounge-worthy upholstery grounds the space, encouraging a relaxed and effortless West Coast vibe. Exposed wood beams recall the original Spanish-influence, but feel updated and fresh in a light wood stain. Throughout the entry and main floor, found artifacts punctate the softer textures — ceramics from New Mexico, religious sculpture from Asia and a quirky wall-mounted phone that belonged to our client’s grandmother.

"Vous voulez du thé?!" m'a dit Eliane? Il s'agissait plutôt de refaire toute la cuisine et de créer un nouveau coin bureau dans l'espace salon. Mais ce thé, j'aurais bien envie de le prendre, maintenant, dans ce nouvel environnement. Une cuisine agrandie et complètement ouverte sur le séjour. Un coin bureau dans la véranda, jouissant d'une belle lumière zénithale. Ça donne envie de s'y installer!

We turned this home's two-car garage into a Studio ADU in Van Nuys. The Studio ADU is fully equipped to live independently from the main house. The ADU has a kitchenette, living room space, closet, bedroom space, and a full bathroom. Upon demolition and framing, we reconfigured the garage to be the exact layout we planned for the open concept ADU. We installed brand new windows, drywall, floors, insulation, foundation, and electrical units. The kitchenette has to brand new appliances from the brand General Electric. The stovetop, refrigerator, and microwave have been installed seamlessly into the custom kitchen cabinets. The kitchen has a beautiful stone-polished countertop from the company, Ceasarstone, called Blizzard. The off-white color compliments the bright white oak tone of the floor and the off-white walls. The bathroom is covered with beautiful white marble accents including the vanity and the shower stall. The shower has a custom shower niche with white marble hexagon tiles that match the shower pan of the shower and shower bench. The shower has a large glass-higned door and glass enclosure. The single bowl vanity has a marble countertop that matches the marble tiles of the shower and a modern fixture that is above the square mirror. The studio ADU is perfect for a single person or even two. There is plenty of closet space and bedroom space to fit a queen or king-sized bed. It has a brand new ductless air conditioner that keeps the entire unit nice and cool.
