The second project for Edit 58's Lisa Mehydene, this time in London. The requirement was one long run and no wall cupboards, giving a completely open canvas above the worktops.

A beautiful barn conversion that underwent a major renovation to be completed with a bespoke handmade kitchen. What we have here is our Classic In-Frame Shaker filling up one wall where the exposed beams are in prime position. This is where the storage is mainly and the sink area with some cooking appliances. The island is very large in size, an L-shape with plenty of storage, worktop space, a seating area, open shelves and a drinks area. A very multi-functional hub of the home perfect for all the family. We hand-painted the cabinets in F&B Down Pipe & F&B Shaded White for a stunning two-tone combination.

Ultramodern German Kitchen in Ewhurst, Surrey The Brief For this project near Ewhurst, Surrey, our contracts team were tasked with creating a minimalist design to suit the extensive construction taking place at this property. A light and spacious theme was sought by this client, as well as a layout that would flow outdoors to a patio and garden yet make the most of the space available. High-tech appliances were required for function as well as to add to a minimalist design. Design Elements For the project, an all-white theme was decided to help the space feel airy with lots of natural light. Kitchen cabinetry is from our trusty German supplier Nobilia, with the client opting for the matt effect furniture of the Fashion range. In terms of layout, a vast run of full height, then base and wall units are used to incorporate heaps of storage, space for appliances and work surfaces. A large island has been incorporated and adds to the seamless ‘outdoor’ style when bi-fold doors are open in warmer months. The handleless operation of the kitchen adds to the minimalist feel, with stainless steel rails instead used to access drawers and doors. To add ambience to the space LED strip lighting has been fitted within the handrail, as well as integrated lighting in the wall units. Special Inclusions To incorporate high-tech functions Neff cooking appliances, a full-height refrigerator and freezer have been specified in addition to an integrated Neff dishwasher. As part of the cooking appliance arrangement, a single Slide & Hide oven, combination oven and warming drawer have been utilised each adding heaps of appliance ingenuity. To remove the need for a traditional extractor hood, a Bora Pure venting hob has been placed on the vast island area. Project Highlight The work surfaces for this project required extensive attention to detail. Waterfall edges are used on both sides of the island, whilst on the island itself, touch sockets have been fabricated into the quartz using a waterjet to create almost unnoticeable edges. The veins of the Silestone work surfaces have been matched at joins to create a seamless appearance on the waterfall edges and worktop upstands. The finish used for the work surfaces is Bianco Calacatta. The End Result The outcome of this project is a wonderful kitchen and dining area, that delivers all the elements of the brief. The quartz work surfaces are a particular highlight, as well as the layout that is flexible and can function as a seamless inside-outside kitchen in hotter months. This project was undertaken by our contract kitchen team. This kitchen features the Audus Bespoke handleless micro shaker range, which exudes sophistication and sets the tone for a seamless cooking experience. The choice of light finishes ensures a clean look throughout the space. Topped with 20mm Calacatta Quartz worktops supplied by Algarve Granite, this island is a functional and stunning art piece that acts as the kitchen's focal point. The carefully selected appliances from Siemens and Bora seamlessly blend into the aesthetic while offering top-of-the-line performance. The Blanco sink and Quooker tap add to the kitchen's efficiency. Every piece enhances both form and function. To meet the client's specifications, a hidden pantry is added for optimal storage and effortless organisation. This pantry discretely conceals essentials, maintaining the clean lines of the space. An underground wine cellar concealed in a glass floor panel adds a unique touch while showcasing the client's collection of wine in an elegant fashion. Light colours dominate the open-plan space, creating an atmosphere of airiness and cleanliness. Meanwhile, accent pendant lights are strategically placed, casting a warm glow to illuminate the workspaces while elevating the overall look and feel of the kitchen. The shaker-style aesthetic seamlessly meets modern contemporary, resulting in a beautiful and practical space. The refurbishment makes the most of an unconventional layout to create a light-filled home. The apartment, in a 3-storey Edwardian terrace on a dense urban site in London Bridge, was originally converted from office space to residential use. Over the years, it underwent various unsympathetic alterations and extensions, resulting in an unconventional layout which meant the apartment was unwelcoming and lacking light. To begin with, we opened up the space, removing partitions to create an open plan layout, creating light and connections across the apartment. We introduced a series of insertions in the form of vertical panels and white, oiled, Douglas Fir flooring, to create new living and sleeping spaces. Full-height pivoting doors are concealed by folding back into the walls, which allow the space to be read as tne single plane. The bleached timber floor adds to the effect, creating a lightfilled ‘box’ that’s accented with the owner’s colourful art and furniture. The communal areas have been designed as open and engaging spaces where the family comes together to cook, eat and relax. Secondary working space and storage has been created through a number of sculptural boxes which form the enclosure to the shower room. Bedrooms are configured around three spaces – storage, dressing and sleeping – and orientated towards the rear where doors lead out onto a small terrace. The precision of the design makes the most out of the small floorplate, creating a generous sense of space that allows the family to manipulate areas to suit their own needs.
