Carter Fox Renovations was hired to do a complete renovation of this semi-detached home in the Gerrard-Coxwell neighbourhood of Toronto. The main floor was completely gutted and transformed - most of the interior walls and ceilings were removed, a large sliding door installed across the back, and a small powder room added. All the electrical and plumbing was updated and new herringbone hardwood installed throughout. Upstairs, the bathroom was expanded by taking space from the adjoining bedroom. We added a second floor laundry and new hardwood throughout. The walls and ceiling were plaster repaired and painted, avoiding the time, expense and excessive creation of landfill involved in a total demolition. This project was one of my favourites to date. The client had given me complete freedom to design a featured kitchen that was big on functionality, practicality and entertainment as much as it was big in design. The mixture of dark timber grain, high-end appliances, LED lighting and minimalistic lines all came together in this stunning, show-stopping kitchen. As you make your way from the front door to the kitchen, it appears before you like a marble masterpiece. The client's had chosen this beautiful natural Italian marble, so maximum use of the marble was the centrepiece of this project. Once I received the pictures of the selected slabs, I had the idea of using the featured butterfly join as the splashback. I was able to work with the 3D team to show how this will look upon completion, and the results speak for themselves. The 3Ds had made the decisions much clearer and gave the clients confidence in the finishes and design. Every project must not only be aesthetically beautiful but should always be practical and functional for the day to day grind... this one has it all!

Speaking for itself, this spectacular kitchen is an icon of what a kitchen today should look like. With a dark oak featured Barack that contrasts greatly with the white cabinetry and light oak walk-in pantry. A beautiful large island with an angled stone feature giving the kitchen a unique finish instantly. Adding to the uniqueness is the change of tone once you reach the cooktop area. the soft marble stone feature of the island becomes a very distinct and veiny Calcutta finish being borders by an ultra white splashback.

Introducing a ground floor flat within a classic Victorian terrace house, enhanced by a captivating modern L-Shape extension. This residence pays homage to its Victorian heritage while elevating both its aesthetic and practical appeal for modern living. Nestled within these walls is a young family, comprising a couple and their newborn. A comprehensive back-to-brick renovation has transformed every room, shaping the flat into a beautiful and functional haven for family life. The thoughtful redesign encompasses a side return extension, a modernized kitchen, inviting bedrooms, an upgraded bathroom, a welcoming hallway, and a charming city courtyard garden. The kitchen has become the heart of this home, where an open plan kitchen and living room seamlessly integrate, expanding the footprint to include an extra bedroom. The end result is not only practical and aesthetically pleasing but has also added significant value to the ground floor flat.

The refined kitchen palette works with the home’s rich furnishings to highlight the homeowner’s art collection. Rift cut white oak floors run continuously from the main living space into the kitchen, visually connecting it to the rest of the home. Inside the elegant kitchen, a Caesarstone-lined work area is recessed into a floor-to-ceiling wall of glossy white cabinetry. The Calacatta marble-style quartz wraps the counter, walls and soffit to create a sculptural element which features a sleek range hood, floating shelves, and pot lights. The quartz surface carries over to the island. Walnut base cabinets add depth and rich wood tone to the space. Hanging above, a cluster of glass globe pendant lights with bronze hardware adds a playful touch to the sophisticated space. The length of the island was designed to ensure use of the prep sink would not splash onto the Globe and Mail during breakfast! Adjacent to the island, the pantry houses small appliances and glassware, and also screens the dish washing area from the living room. The north wall with full-height, sliding glass doors extends the interior living space out onto the backyard terrace for barbequing, entertaining and enjoyment of the quiet, trellis enclosed garden.
