This room was the previous dining room in the home. By closing up the wall into the living area on the other side I was able to create an additional bedroom and change the homes smaller dining area into a home office/bedroom. I created a space for the closet out of the wall and built-ins on the other side. The room was carpeted to cover the stained hardwood flooring and the walls were painted a light grey and white. This first floor remodel included the kitchen, powder room, mudroom, laundry room, living room and office. The bright, white kitchen is accented by gray-blue island with seating for four. We removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room to create an open floor plan. A special feature is the custom-made cherry desk and white built in shelving we created in the office. Contemporary meets traditional in this La Cañada Study. The concept was simplicity with richness and depth, creating a calming workspace. The abundance of light and high ceilings made the perfect setting for a deep, handsome color palette.
