The “Simonton” boasts a stone façade, towering rooflines, and graceful arches. Sprawling across the property, the home features a separate wing for the main level master suite. The interior focal point is the dramatic dining room, which faces the front of the house and opens out onto the front porch. The study, large family room and back patio offer additional gathering places, along with the kitchen’s island and table seating. Three bedroom suites fill the upper level, each with a private bathroom. Two loft areas open to the floor below, giving the home a grand, spacious atmosphere.

It seems we channeled our inner Belle from Beauty and the Beast with this library. From the giant, repurposed church clock the the intricate repurposed wood floors, this unique nook is the perfect mix of comfy and cozy that will have readers going crazy for it.

Van Auken Akins Architects LLC designed and facilitated the renovation of a 1,876 square-foot suburban condo. VAA developed a palette of clean detailing, which allowed for the integration of the client's blue chip art collection. Rich materials, such as Carrera marble, liquid crystal privacy glass, Venetian plaster, and stained cherry serve as beautiful backdrops to define each space. A new bluestone patio extends the interior theme into the existing condominium landscape.

A pair of red, white, gray and taupe arm chairs in polka dots and plaid set a playful, casual tone for her home office. For contrast against the vintage, French farm house wood floor, I chose a custom gray and white rug in an animal hide pattern. Soft Roman shades add lush fabric folds to the scene and the red shade on the table lamp echoes the color scheme. Photo by Brian Gassel
