A young growing family purchased a great home in Chicago’s West Bucktown, right by Logan Square. It had good bones. The basement had been redone at some point, but it was due for another refresh. It made sense to plan a mindful remodel that would acommodate life as the kids got older. “A nice place to just hang out” is what the owners told us they wanted. “You want your kids to want to be in your house. In the basement bar, practical LVT flooring was used. The bar itself was designed using Dekton and with alcoves for drinks and records to be displayed. A large mirror enhances the large and feeling of spaciousness. The gold accents of the cupboard fronts, bar worktop and sink work alongside the hardwearing Dekton bar work surface.

A bar was incorporated off of the kitchen. It is connected to the back of the fireplace and services the dining space and the games room leading one through the open-concept layout. Bronze metallic upper cabinet glass doors display glasses while a wine fridge and an under-counter pull-out cabinet housing liquor bottles provide all of the necessities for a functioning home bar, making this open-concept space perfect for entertaining.

Butler pantry area with two under counter refrigerators, and a built in coffee machine. White shaker cabinets, and granite countertops round out this space.
