This wet bar is part of a big, multi-room project for a family of four that also included a new mudroom and a primary bath remodel. The existing family/playroom was more playroom than family room. The addition of a wet bar/beverage station would make the area more enjoyable for adults as well as kids. Design Objectives -Cold Storage for craft beers and kids drinks -Stay with a more masculine style -Display area for stemware and other collectibles Design Challenge -Provide enough cold refrigeration for a wide range of drinks while also having plenty of storage THE RENEWED SPACE By incorporating three floating shelves the homeowners are able to display all of their stemware and other misc. items. Anything they don’t want on display can be hidden below in the base cabinet roll-outs. This is a nice addition to the space that adults and kids can enjoy at the same time. The undercounter refrigeration is efficient and practical – saving everyone a trip to the kitchen when in need of refreshment, while also freeing up plenty of space in the kitchen fridge!

Northern Michigan summers are best spent on the water. The family can now soak up the best time of the year in their wholly remodeled home on the shore of Lake Charlevoix. This beachfront infinity retreat offers unobstructed waterfront views from the living room thanks to a luxurious nano door. The wall of glass panes opens end to end to expose the glistening lake and an entrance to the porch. There, you are greeted by a stunning infinity edge pool, an outdoor kitchen, and award-winning landscaping completed by Drost Landscape. Inside, the home showcases Birchwood craftsmanship throughout. Our family of skilled carpenters built custom tongue and groove siding to adorn the walls. The one of a kind details don’t stop there. The basement displays a nine-foot fireplace designed and built specifically for the home to keep the family warm on chilly Northern Michigan evenings. New homeowners wanted to update the kitchen before moving in. KBF replaced all the flooring with a mid-tone plank engineered wood, and designed a gorgeous new kitchen that is truly the centerpiece of the home. The crystal chandelier over the center island is the first thing you notice when you enter the space, but there is so much more to see! The architectural details include corbels on the range hood, cabinet panels and matching hardware on the integrated fridge, crown molding on cabinets of varying heights, creamy granite countertops with hints of gray, black, brown and sparkle, and a glass arabasque tile backsplash to reflect the sparkle from that stunning chandelier.

For a lakeside retreat, the bar’s lower level location is an integral part of outdoor entertaining. Custom cabinetry and floating shelves provide storage for everything necessary to make entertaining stress free. Kara Lashuay

Entertaining doesn’t always happen on the main floor and in this project, the basement was dedicated towards creating a comfortable family room and hang out spot for guests. The wet bar is the perfect spot for preparing drinks for movie or gossip night with friends. With low ceilings and a long window above, we had to get creative with our storage design. The tall far left cabinet houses more glass ware while lower additional drawers house bar ware. Introducing the bar sink in the far right corner offered a long run of prep counter space along the middle section of the wall span. This asymmetrical design is modern and very practical.
