This Transitional Farmhouse Kitchen was completely remodeled and the home is nestled on the border of Pasadena and South Pasadena. Our goal was to keep the original charm of our client’s home while updating the kitchen in a way that was fresh and current. Our design inspiration began with a deep green soapstone counter top paired with creamy white cabinetry. Carrera marble subway tile for the backsplash is a luxurious splurge and adds classic elegance to the space. The stainless steel appliances and sink create a more transitional feel, while the shaker style cabinetry doors and schoolhouse light fixture are in keeping with the original style of the home. Tile flooring resembling concrete is clean and simple and seeded glass in the upper cabinet doors help make the space feel open and light. This kitchen has a hidden microwave and custom range hood design, as well as a new pantry area, for added storage. The pantry area features an appliance garage and deep-set counter top for multi-purpose use. These features add value to this small space. The finishing touches are polished nickel cabinet hardware, which add a vintage look and the cafe curtains are the handiwork of the homeowner. Farm House Kitchen built from a white oak tree harvested from the Owner's property. The Radiant heat in the Kitchen flooring is native Bluestone from Johnston & Rhodes. The double Cast Iron Kohler Sink is a reclaimed fixture with a Rohl faucet. Counters are by Vermont Soapstone. Appliances include a restored Wedgewood stove with double ovens and a refrigerator by Liebherr. Cabinetry designed by JWRA and built by Gergen Woodworks in Newburgh, NY. Lighting including the Pendants and picture lights are fixtures by Hudson Valley Lighting of Newburgh. This lovely remodeled french country, farmhouse kitchen is designed featuring a beautiful bead board tray ceiling with crown molding & lower half wall bead board wainscoting color matching the Decora designer cabinetry in a painted off-white/creamy & brown distressed glazed finish. The front cabinet doors were taken off above the stove's wall to display "open shelving" adding bead board wall paper to the back of cabinets. This kitchen also features, recessed lighting, stainless steel appliances, silver drawer pulls, & a drum light chandelier over the custom center island.

This Clarks Hill farmhouse kitchen was worn-out and awkwardly closed off from the dining space. The homeowner wanted new appliances and needed the paneling to be removed. Riverside Construction updated the design by creating an island with seating for two. We also opened up the space to the dining room by removing a wall. The space was brightened up using white shaker style cabinets with clean lines and hi-definition laminate counter tops. Cork flooring was added to create a nice contrast. Additionally, Riverside moved the range from the closed off wall to the left leg of the kitchen, improving the workflow in the kitchen. School house lights and beaded paneling on the island were added to bring back the charm of the early 1900’s.

In choosing modular cooktop units over a full range, Franklin was able to keep the open galley kitchen streamlined in appearance and gain storage space to boot. The commercial grade components sport strong down draft units beneath the burners to eliminate cooking odors, which is a major consideration when designing an open concept space. One of the highlights of the work area is the gleaming stainless backsplash that Franklin designed. "I simply had a large piece of stainless steel bent into shape and attached with industrial grade adhesive," he explains. "Big look, inexpensive price!" 78 x 42 counter height island allows for lots of counter/dining space. Small desk area provides a work space of 46" for computer work. There is now room for several people to work and contribute to cooking. Great for entertaining!
