In the heart of Tuscany, in the countryside surrounding Florence, an old and finely restored farmhouse holds the latest project by Officine Gullo. The project results from the collaboration with the architects Carlo Ludovico Poccianti, Francesca Garagnani and Carlo De Pinto, owners of the well-known Florentine architects’ office Archflorence. This creation, which by no coincidence is named Chianti Red & Burnished Brass, fits into a kitchen with warm tones, characterized by high durmast wooden beamed ceilings, old brick arches and traditional tile floor. A unique and unmistakable style able to combine, in an impeccable way, the classical charm of forms, with an ancient style, and the more modern and elegant technologies available in your kitchen. It results in the pleasant feeling of living luxury and beauty in a place where any detail derives from research and handicraft manufacturing and where cooking tools are perfectly linked to those of a professional kitchen for top-quality catering. This project consists of a cooktop with remarkable dimensions (cm 308 x 70) characterized by a highly thick top made of brushed steel and equipped with a pasta cooker, 4 highly performant gas burners, smooth frytop with gloss finishing, and a sink with a mixer made of burnished brass. The cooking appliance completes, in the lower part, with two big dimension ovens, a food warmer together with a container with a door and drawers. In the middle of the room an island is located, embellished by an elegant and practical 9.6 cm thick wooden top equipped with drawers, pull-out elements and doors. Above the island, there is a practical shelf holding pots made of burnished brass. This place is embellished also by an enclosing woodwork wall with a grey finishing: inside, the refrigerator with the freezer stands out equipped with a “home dialog” and a flap made of brass on the door protecting the control panel, and a built-in microwave oven. The structure of the kitchen is made of stainless steel, highly thick, stove enamelled, with profiles and details made of brushed brass and wooden handles. Like any creation by Officine Gullo, it is possible to fully customize the composition of the cooking appliances, from their dimensions to the composition of the hob, up to the engraving of handles or to colours.

We took our clients home to the next level. A touch of glamour from every vantage point and a custom crafted the hood center stage finished in stainless and accented with matte brass. Sitting snuggly next to the custom hood are wall cabinets in a two-toned finish with X mullions. The inserts in the wall cabinets where chosen to be an antique mirror to add a big of glam but also to keep the mess hidden behind the door. It’s not just a place to cook dinner, it’s an interior design, it’s decor that deserves to be featured in a magazine. Metallic accents will give your kitchen a glamorous touch no matter its style or design: silver, bronze, rose or yellow gold work especially great in neutral black and white interiors. Patterned, metallic, or textured, interesting backsplash tile bring this kitchen to the next level by adding character to the kitchen design. Across from the kitchen is the open family room area that lacked seating and flow. Our design team felt like it was important to combine this kitchen and family room into a great room and not single entities. Every room should connect to those around it in some way. The homeowners of the 1850’s Brownstone house planned to stay in this house forever when they purchased it 28 years ago, but with two stories, steep and narrow stairs, small dark rooms, and no attached garage space, they needed to do some major renovations to make it feasible to stay there in the future. The floors throughout the house were not level, and some areas in the house even had less than 7’ high ceilings, including the kitchen. This tall family had to duck going through every doorway in their home. They had a beautiful secluded wooded property with a creek, but without any usable outdoor space never got to sit and enjoy it. Their goal was to create more open space, a bright farmhouse kitchen, first floor living so they can age in place as well as an attached garage and outdoor spaces, yet remain true to the historic home. With over 1,600 SF added, in addition to updating the rest of the home we were able to meet all the needs of this client. With an appealing 2-wing addition, we added a master bedroom and bathroom, complete with a walk-in shower and walk-in closet, a bright open farmhouse kitchen with walk in pantry that looks into the impressive great room with cathedral ceilings, faux wood beams, and stone fireplace, as well as a two car attached garage. The staircase is open and wide and comes down into the heart of the living space. Lots of new windows in the great room, as well as throughout the entire renovation were added, along with plenty of recessed, hanging, decorative, undercabinet, and exterior lighting. Farmhouse aesthetics were added throughout with barn doors and a custom wood island top which were made from some of the original wood from the house. Deep window sills in the great room pay homage to some details of the original house, as well as an original door into the pantry, and the now exposed brownstone wall at the front door. In addition to interior work, a large deck was added off the kitchen to enjoy the outdoors.

the kitchen was completely remodelled from a congested galley kitchen to a big island kitchen with a big counter, creating space for easy workflow. The skylight added to the kitchen provides ample daylight while enhancing the appeal of the kitchen cum dining space.
