This Altadena home is the perfect example of modern farmhouse flair. The powder room flaunts an elegant mirror over a strapping vanity; the butcher block in the kitchen lends warmth and texture; the living room is replete with stunning details like the candle style chandelier, the plaid area rug, and the coral accents; and the master bathroom’s floor is a gorgeous floor tile. This beautiful home had a large kitchen that did not function well for the family. Prep space was sorely lacking and there were too many doors! The homeowner's did not like that they had to see their coats and shoes when in the space. With some creative designing, we were able to create this highly functional, and beautiful new kitchen (complete with a "hidden" coat storage area). Check out the reclaimed floating shelves and faux beams!

This Transitional Farmhouse Kitchen was completely remodeled and the home is nestled on the border of Pasadena and South Pasadena. Our goal was to keep the original charm of our client’s home while updating the kitchen in a way that was fresh and current. Our design inspiration began with a deep green soapstone counter top paired with creamy white cabinetry. Carrera marble subway tile for the backsplash is a luxurious splurge and adds classic elegance to the space. The stainless steel appliances and sink create a more transitional feel, while the shaker style cabinetry doors and schoolhouse light fixture are in keeping with the original style of the home. Tile flooring resembling concrete is clean and simple and seeded glass in the upper cabinet doors help make the space feel open and light. This kitchen has a hidden microwave and custom range hood design, as well as a new pantry area, for added storage. The pantry area features an appliance garage and deep-set counter top for multi-purpose use. These features add value to this small space. The finishing touches are polished nickel cabinet hardware, which add a vintage look and the cafe curtains are the handiwork of the homeowner. In the adjoining dining area, we used beautiful furniture and lighting that mirror the lovely views of the outdoors. Stone-clad fireplaces, furnishings in fun prints, and statement lighting create elegance and sophistication in the living areas. The bedrooms are designed to evoke a calm relaxation sanctuary with plenty of natural light and soft finishes. Opening the stair well walls with amazing cable railing allowed the natural light to pour into the entire main living area! To add height, cabinets along with gorgeous picket styled tile was taken to the ceiling. The gray stained island on casters not only breaks up the white and natural wood but also adds functionality for prep space. What makes a great kitchen? Natural light, natural and warm materials, gentle contrasts and a new functional layout. All cabinetry has soft-close and interiors are full of roll-outs, trash units, lots of drawers and utensil dividers. Inspired by the series Fixer Upper, plumbing brackets were created by the homeowner to support the open shelves. Amazing transformation in a small space. We took the walls down around the main vent chase to open the space to the dining and living room, removed soffits, and brought the kitchen up to date with taupe painted cabinets, a knotty alder island, black granite and Cambria Bellingham counters, a custom Edison bulb chandelier, stainless appliances and the stunning farm sink, and clean classic subway tile.

Our showcase kitchen was envisioned to be a modern farmhouse dream. To encompass the trend we used period lighting, a combination of cream, black and natural wood tones. Authentic natural maple hardwood flooring. Partially stained wood and painted cream custom cabinets for contrast and definition. The spacious kitchen island made of Vicostone Carrara honed Quartz is attached to the dining table. White fireclay farmhouse sink. Premium JennAir appliances. Finished with cream faux leather dining chairs and farmhouse decor.
