This small, rustic, kitchen is part of a 1200 sq ft cabin near the California coast- Hollister Ranch. There is no electricity, only wind power. We used the original wood siding inside, and washed it with a light stain to lighten the cabin. The kitchen is completely redesigned, using natural handscraped pine with a glaze coat. Stainless steel hood, skylight, and pine flooring. We used a natural sided wood beam to support the upper cabinets, with wood pegs for hanging vegetables and flowers drying. A hand made wrought iron pot rack is above the sink, in front of the window. Antique pine table, and custom made chairs. Multiple Ranch and Mountain Homes are shown in this project catalog: from Camarillo horse ranches to Lake Tahoe ski lodges. Featuring rock walls and fireplaces with decorative wrought iron doors, stained wood trusses and hand scraped beams. Rustic designs give a warm lodge feel to these large ski resort homes and cattle ranches. Pine plank or slate and stone flooring with custom old world wrought iron lighting, leather furniture and handmade, scraped wood dining tables give a warmth to the hard use of these homes, some of which are on working farms and orchards. Antique and new custom upholstery, covered in velvet with deep rich tones and hand knotted rugs in the bedrooms give a softness and warmth so comfortable and livable. In the kitchen, range hoods provide beautiful points of interest, from hammered copper, steel, and wood. Mrs. Deighan loved to cook, but hated her kitchen. It was nonfunctional, inefficient, and an eyesore. The sink was in the corner under low cabinets. The awkwardly placed fridge made it impractical for the entire family to be working together. And that was a big deal. She wanted a beautiful place to cook and entertain. Besides the cramped space, the old, brown plywood cabinets were falling apart. Because the cabinets were low, under-cabinet lighting was useless. The kitchen was dark. The previous owners had updated the flooring, but only by putting uglier tiles over the old vinyl. And the ceiling had a leak stain. It was time for a big change. The Deighan's called Amos from ALL Renovation & Design. Amos’s many successful remodeling projects done for them over the years had forged a friendship that made him the obvious contractor of choice. Amos sat down with them and asked them to make a dream kitchen list. If budget were of no concern, what would the space look like? Once the Deighan's had their list, Amos helped them to evaluate each investment, taking into consideration the age and value of the home. Then Amos presented a plan that fit perfectly in the Deighan's budget. The basic U-shaped kitchen layout stayed the same. Modern, creamy white custom cabinets replaced the dark plywood cabinets. The fridge moved to make space for more cabinets. The biggest challenge was moving the laundry room wall a few feet. Moving it was necessary to add more space, but, since the wall was load-bearing, moving it required extra attention. It was worth it. Extra space allowed the counter to extend and the sink to move. After the hard work ended, the reason for the transformation became reality. Now “we can have the whole family in there comfortably and working together,” Mrs. Deighan said. She loves her kitchen. Especially the windowed cabinets that show off her fiestaware. And when you see the beautiful St. Cecilia granite countertops, with Milstone Sari porcelain mosaic tile backsplash, maple flat-panel cabinets with under-cabinet lighting, and all new appliances including a double oven, you will see why she does.

Kitchen in a 1920s Colonial Revival home was totally gutted and renovated. In addition to updated electrical, plumbing, and lighting, new windows were added bringing in lots of natural light. Antique oak beams and used brick veneer provide contrast and lend a rustic touch. Warm site-finished white oak floors ground the space and provide more contrast, as do the natural grass shades. Stainless steel appliances provide a sleek modern edge without overwhelming the space, while a crackle subway tile accented with beaded and black liners give a nod to the traditional. Countertops of Olympian White Vermont Danby marble in the main work area have a subtle gray veining.

コの字型キッチンの改善ポイントを考える

まずは、現在使用しているキッチンを見直してみましょう。調理するスペースが狭い、高さが自分の身長に合っていない、収納スペースが少ないなど、キッチンによってさまざまな改善ポイントが見つかるはずです。こうした改善ポイントをもとに、カントリー風のコの字型キッチンのリフォームを検討しましょう。

Ⅰ型コの字型キッチンは最も一般的なレイアウトで、シンク、調理台、コンロ、冷蔵庫が横一線に並んだタイプのコの字型キッチンです。最近では、対面カウンターを付けて背面に収納スペースと冷蔵庫を置くなど、Ⅱ型やアイランド型に似たタイプのレイアウトも人気です。
Ⅱ型コの字型キッチン
Ⅱ型キッチンはシンク、調理台、コンロ、冷蔵庫を2カ所に分け、平行に配置することで調理スペースを広げるレイアウトです。調理の際の動線が短くなるというメリットがあります。
L型コの字型キッチン
L型コの字型キッチンは、シンク、調理台、コンロがL字型に配置されたレイアウトです。ワークトライアングルを作りやすく、動線をコンパクトに抑えることができます。
アイランドコの字型キッチン
アイランドコの字型キッチンは独立型コの字型キッチンとも呼ばれ、シンク、調理台などを壁面から独立させて設置するレイアウトです。調理台を囲むように作業ができるため、家族や友人など複数で楽しみながらキッチンを共有できます。ホームパーティーや料理教室をする際にも便利でしょう。
ペニンシュラコの字型キッチン
ペニンシュラは英語で「半島」を意味します。コの字型キッチンの左右どちらかが壁に接しているレイアウトを指します。調理スペースがオープンになっているため、リビングやダイニングにいる方とコミュニケーションを取りながら調理できるというメリットがあります。

ビルトイン機器の選択

カントリー風のコの字型キッチンタイプのレイアウト見直しと同時に、ビルトイン機器も検討されてみてはいかがでしょうか。ビルトイン機器とは、建物や家具、設備などの中に組み込んで利用する機器を指します。システムキッチンには、ビルトインコンロ、レンジフード、オーブンレンジ、食器洗浄乾燥機を組み込むことが可能です。ビルトインであればスタイリッシュにコの字型キッチンに溶け込み、インテリアの邪魔にもなりません。新築やリフォームの際に取り入れることをおすすめします。

食器洗浄乾燥機 (食洗機) は手洗いよりも少ない水量できれいに食器を洗浄することができるため、新築やコの字型キッチンのリフォーム時には食洗機の導入をおすすめします。国内製のビルトイン食洗機の場合は引き出し式になっているタイプが多いのに対し、海外製のビルトイン食洗機は前開き式になっているものが一般的です。国内製・海外製それぞれで、設置業者や設置可能なシステムコの字型キッチンが異なる場合があるため注意しましょう。

収納スペースのアイデア
