This young busy family wanted a well put together family room that had a sophisticated look and functioned well for their family of four. The colour palette flowed from the existing stone fireplace and adjoining kitchen to the beautiful new well-wearing upholstery, a houndstooth wool area rug, and custom drapery panels. Added depth was given to the walls either side of the fireplace by painting them a deep blue/charcoal. Finally, the decor accessories and wood furniture pieces gave the space a chic finished look. A custom cocktail-ottoman is the centerpiece of this intimate conversation area in the open plan family room. Upholstered in leather and trimmed with nail heads, it brings a hint of cattle country to this sophisticated setting. But there are so many details that make this space special. Notice the fringed skirts and nailheads on the arm chairs and their lumbar pillows bordered in pom pons. Plus, the custom rug is a subtle reference to a spotted animal skin. Photo by Brian Gassel

The homeowners didn't like having to use multiple apps to control differnt functions, so all aspects of the home's entertainment sustem are controlled on one system, Depending on the type of party they are throwing--and even who is throwing the shindig--the home is ready to roll with the puches. The "Dinner Party" scene cues up different lighting, music, and HVAC settings based on whether it is a ladies' night of a guys' night, or if the couple is entertaining together, Custom buttons on the keypads around the home let them choose which scene to set, and the LEDs even change colors to let them know which party scene is playing. Brilliant!

This is a quintessential Colorado home. Massive raw steel beams are juxtaposed with refined fumed larch cabinetry, heavy lashed timber is foiled by the lightness of window walls. Monolithic stone walls lay perpendicular to a curved ridge, organizing the home as they converge in the protected entry courtyard.
