The family room is the primary living space in the home, with beautifully detailed fireplace and built-in shelving surround, as well as a complete window wall to the lush back yard. The stained glass windows and panels were designed and made by the homeowner.

This living space is part of a Great Room that connects to the kitchen. Beautiful white brick cladding around the fireplace and chimney. White oak features including: fireplace mantel, floating shelves, and solid wood floor. The custom cabinetry on either side of the fireplace has glass display doors and Cambria Quartz countertops. This open floor plan family room for a family of four—two adults and two children was a dream to design. I wanted to create harmony and unity in the space bringing the outdoors in. My clients wanted a space that they could, lounge, watch TV, play board games and entertain guest in. They had two requests: one—comfortable and two—inviting. They are a family that loves sports and spending time with each other. One of the challenges I tackled first was the 22 feet ceiling height and wall of windows. I decided to give this room a Contemporary Rustic Style. Using scale and proportion to identify the inadequacy between the height of the built-in and fireplace in comparison to the wall height was the next thing to tackle. Creating a focal point in the room created balance in the room. The addition of the reclaimed wood on the wall and furniture helped achieve harmony and unity between the elements in the room combined makes a balanced, harmonious complete space. Bringing the outdoors in and using repetition of design elements like color throughout the room, texture in the accent pillows, rug, furniture and accessories and shape and form was how I achieved harmony. The original kitchen was removed from the south wall to create outdoor access via a new terrace door. The new kitchen was moved to the north side of the open kitchen family area. This location allowed for an 11’ long island. The family room space was enhanced by installing the picture window that gives a great view into the pool space and lets in borrowed light from the 9’x20’ retracting skylight that sits over the pool. The large window draws you into the room and in the evening the backlit blue agate wall panels that are visible throughout the first floor create a warm glow. Rez de chaussée, plusieurs murs ont été abattus afin d'avoir une grande pièce à vivre au rez-de-chaussée. La cheminée à été rafraîchie avec un parquet bois sur le dessus au lieu du crépi qu'il y avait avant. Une grande baie vitrée donne beaucoup de lumière.

Opposite the kitchen, a family entertainment space features a cast concrete wall. Within the wall niches, there is space for firewood, the fireplace and a centrally located flat screen television. The home is designed by Pierre Hoppenot of Studio PHH Architects.

This Coastal Natural Living room was created for a relaxed, easy vibe. Designed incorporating many natural elements. White slipcover sofa with cool color combination pillows and a soft seagrass area rug complete the design.
