Our goal for this project was to transform this home from family-friendly to an empty nesters sanctuary. We opted for a sophisticated palette throughout the house, featuring blues, greys, taupes, and creams. The punches of colour and classic patterns created a warm environment without sacrificing sophistication. Home located in Thornhill, Vaughan. The den for this particular beach house project means family time. It’s the destination for watching a movie on the sofa or hosting a board game night. The multipurpose functionality requirements were this room’s biggest challenge. We solved this design challenge by defining a clear area for conversation and watching the television (featuring another stunning Cisco sofa and super-fun luxe bean bags for the comfiest lounging).

this art deco inspired family room sits open to the grand kitchen and offers abundant seating starting with this custom 10 foot sofa covered in camel colored chenille. accent walls in pale blue grasscloth and camel color grasscloth offer modern color blocking. a camel stria wool rug anchors the long sofa and across from it, the matching pale blue slope arm mohair velvet chairs.

The San Marino House is the most viewed project in our carpentry portfolio. It's got everything you could wish for. A floor to ceiling lacquer wall unit with custom cabinetry lets you stash your things with style. Floating glass shelves carry fine liquor bottles for the classy antique mirror-backed bar. Speaking about bars, the solid wood white oak slat bar and its matching back bar give the pool house a real vacation vibe. Who wouldn't want to live here??

My clients always wanted a fireplace in the family room but could not build the necessary chimney due to building restrictions. To overcome this obstacle we installed an Eco Smart bio fuel fireplace. which became the focal point of the room. Next we added custom cabinetry for storage which coordinated with the kitchen (which is an open room adjacent to this space). Custom furnishings from American Leather and Hickory Chair were selected for my tall client. High performance fabrics were selected to provide worry free enjoyment of the furniture. Finishing accent pieces from Charleston Forge add a warm and contemporary vibe to the pace. The dark stain is a beautiful contrast to the lighter colorway. As you can see there are 2 skylights and 2 very large windows so light is not a problem but sun and heat are. With the height of the ceilings, we needed a large but good looking ceiling fan to control the temperature. An oversize custom ceiling fan was chosen. The walls are a coordinated blue grey to compliment the Venetian plaster finished fireplace column. In the family room sits a 12-foot custom sectional sofa with two one-of-a-kind ottomans with a neutral print fabric that serves as coffee tables along with mirroring curved chaise lounges for an abundance of seating fit for large groups.

By using an area rug to define the seating, a cozy space for hanging out is created while still having room for the baby grand piano, a bar and storage. Tiering the millwork at the fireplace, from coffered ceiling to floor, creates a graceful composition, giving focus and unifying the room by connecting the coffered ceiling to the wall paneling below. Light fabrics are used throughout to keep the room light, warm and peaceful- accenting with blues.

A simple media wall that took unbelievably NINE different skilled sub contractors to accomplish. Details are everything and if you don’t notice them, we did it right!
