The island is a dark charcoal with cool undertones that coordinates with the cabinetry and transom work in both the neighboring mudroom and breakfast area. White subway tile, quartz countertops, white enamel pendants and gold fixtures complete the update. The ends of the island are shiplap material that is also used on the fireplace in the next room. In the new mudroom, we used a fun porcelain tile on the floor to get a pop of pattern, and walnut accents add some warmth. Each child has their own cubby, and there is a spot for shoes below a long bench. Open shelving with spots for baskets provides additional storage for the room. Off the main entry, enter the mud room to access four built-in lockers with a window seat, making getting in and out the door a breeze. Custom barn doors flank the doorway and add a warm farmhouse flavor.

This 2 story home with a first floor Master Bedroom features a tumbled stone exterior with iron ore windows and modern tudor style accents. The Great Room features a wall of built-ins with antique glass cabinet doors that flank the fireplace and a coffered beamed ceiling. The adjacent Kitchen features a large walnut topped island which sets the tone for the gourmet kitchen. Our client's wanted to create a home that was a blending of a classic farmhouse style with a modern twist, both on the interior layout and styling as well as the exterior. With two young children, they sought to create a plan layout which would provide open spaces and functionality for their family but also had the flexibility to evolve and modify the use of certain spaces as their children and lifestyle grew and changed.
