This home was built in an infill lot in an older, established, East Memphis neighborhood. We wanted to make sure that the architecture fits nicely into the mature neighborhood context. The clients enjoy the architectural heritage of the English Cotswold and we have created an updated/modern version of this style with all of the associated warmth and charm. As with all of our designs, having a lot of natural light in all the spaces is very important. The main gathering space has a beamed ceiling with windows on multiple sides that allows natural light to filter throughout the space and also contains an English fireplace inglenook. The interior woods and exterior materials including the brick and slate roof were selected to enhance that English cottage architecture. Enter in where you will find, reclaimed tile from Provence, France along with reclaimed Italian terra cotta tiles in rich gold, bronze and sepia-toned shades. Windows flood the living room, dining room and kitchen with natural light. All of the custom blown glass chandeliers and wall sconces have been imported from Moreno, Italy to keep with the home's Italian pedigree.

Original floor tiles brought back to life in the entranceway of this Edwardian terraced house in South West London. A newly created double-door opening welcomes you into the open plan ground floor space extending down to the garden.

Big country kitchen, over a herringbone pattern around the whole house. It was demolished a wall between the kitchen and living room to make the space opened. It was supported with loading beams.

Since the homeowner is fond of gardening, a French-style trellis entrance was designed in a fresh apple-green color to contrast against the color of the house to set the tone. That color was then applied as an accent color to the shutters and the metal roof. Photographed by Bruce Miller
