THE FRONT ENTRY DOOR; is framed within Mexican tile and a Cantera Stone archway surround. The Dining Room window is to the left side, while the tall window to the right, looks through the center of the Great Family Room and Rear Patio to the Catalina Mountains beyond.

The Abraham Knowlton House (c. 1725) was nearly demolished to make room for the expansion of a nearby commercial building. Thankfully, this historic home was saved from that fate after surviving a long, drawn out battle. When we began the project, the building was in a lamentable state of disrepair due to long-term neglect. Before we could begin on the restoration and renovation of the house proper, we needed to raise the entire structure in order to repair and fortify the foundation. The design project was substantial, involving the transformation of this historic house into beautiful and yet highly functional condominiums. The final design brought this home back to its original, stately appearance while giving it a new lease on life as a home for multiple families. Winner, 2003 Mary P. Mrs Ballard has recently undertaken an extensive refurbishment and extension project at her traditional 1890s Hertfordshire farmhouse. Replacing the original windows at the front of the home as well as specifying new timber sash windows for the new extension, a stunning new front door was also included as part of the project. Mrs Ballard chose a stunning ‘Lydford’ timber front door from the Dale Joinery range, finished in the shade of ‘Chrome Green’. To complete the look at the front of her home, PVD Stainless Polished Brass door hardware from the Coastal range were specified, including the DKB192 Doctor’s Front Door Knocker, REG090 Regent Lever Door Handle and LP400 Sleeved Letter Plate. The PVD Polished Brass finish was the perfect, complementary choice to the dark green finish of the door, and suits the traditional façade. The new front door really is a statement piece, and has added an extra level of beauty to this stunning countryside property.

“It’s easier and cheaper to just buy a new replacement door”… Maybe, but they don’t make em like this anymore! The original 1920s door was in rough shape but with a little bondo magic and elbow grease, brought back to its former glory. How cool is this arched speakeasy window framing the fireplace niche?! No way we’re we going to let this one get demo’d!

This two story entry makes a grand statement as you entry the home through the green accented front door. The "candle" circular chandelier adds character and ambiance.

Therma-Tru Smooth-Star fiberglass door and sidelites painted Rural Green (SW6418). Door and sidelites include energy-efficient Low-E glass that is flush-glazed, meaning the glass is built directly into the door with no need for a lite frame, creating clean lines and a seamless appearance. Door and sidelites also include grilles between glass (GBGs) in White to complement window grid patterns. GBGs are thermally sealed between two panes of tempered glass and offer a solution for homeowners who want a low maintenance divided lite look.
