This extensive restoration project involved dismantling, moving, and reassembling this historic (c. 1687) First Period home in Ipswich, Massachusetts. We worked closely with the dedicated homeowners and a team of specialist craftsmen – first to assess the situation and devise a strategy for the work, and then on the design of the addition and indoor renovations. As with all our work on historic homes, we took special care to preserve the building’s authenticity while allowing for the integration of modern comforts and amenities. The finished product is a grand and gracious home that is a testament to the investment of everyone involved. 玄関の空間を有効利用して収納力アップ！

狭い玄関でも空間を工夫して収納力をアップすれば、スペースにゆとりがうまれ、余裕のある豊かな暮らしを実感することができます。レインシューズやブーツなど場所を取る履物は、間仕切りの自由度の高いシューズボックスを選択し上手に収納しましょう。長さや色、デザインが異なる傘も、傘立てにまとめて入れれば、スッキリと整理することができます。また、壁と柱の間のスペースを使って、絵画を飾る棚や照明を設置するスペースを確保すれば、玄関スペースがバッと華やかになります。

玄関の使いやすさと安全性は妥協しない

高齢化社会を迎える日本にとって、住宅のバリアフリー化は重要な課題です。玄関エリアに段差をなくし緩やかなスロープを設置すれば、車椅子でも簡単に、そして安全に出入りすることが可能になります。スロープを設けるスペースがない場合は、階段昇降機で対応することも可能です。手すりは、車椅子に乗る人用とその他の家族用の2種類を設置しましょう。玄関に車椅子用の収納スペースを確保すると、外出準備が一箇所にまとまるので便利です。
