The Marrickville Hempcrete house is an exciting project that shows how acoustic requirements for aircraft noise can be met, without compromising on thermal performance and aesthetics.The design challenge was to create a better living space for a family of four without increasing the site coverage. The existing footprint has not been increased on the ground floor but reconfigured to improve circulation, usability and connection to the backyard. A mere 35 square meters has been added on the first floor. The result is a generous house that provides three bedrooms, a study, two bathrooms, laundry, generous kitchen dining area and outdoor space on a 197.5sqm site. This is a renovation that incorporates basic passive design principles combined with clients who weren’t afraid to be bold with new materials, texture and colour. Special thanks to a dedicated group of consultants, suppliers and a ambitious builder working collaboratively throughout the process. Hood Wall, left - you can see the handcrafted Subway Tile merging with the Diamond Tiles. This project was inspired by a fusion of: contemporary elements, farmhouse warmth, geometric design & overall convenience. The style is eclectic as a result. Our clients wanted something unique to them and a reflection of their style to greet them each day. With details that are custom like the hood and the ceramic tile backsplash, there are standard elements worked into the space to truly show off this couple's personal style. This bespoke family kitchen was part of the renovation of a period home in Frome. The ground floor is a half basement and struggled with dark rooms and a layout that did not function well for family life. New windows were added to the adjoining dining room and crisp white finishes and clever lighting have transformed the space. Bespoke cabinets maximised the limited head height and corner space. Designed in a classic shaker style and painted in Hopper by Little Greene with classic burnished brass ironmongery, it is a timeless design.

Un graphisme original Dans ce grand appartement, les espaces multifonctionnels et lumineux avaient besoin d’être remis au goût du jour. Nos clients souhaitaient moderniser leur intérieur et mettre en valeur le mobilier existant. Particularité de la cuisine de 20m², la salle à manger se trouve en enfilade derrière l’îlot central. Nos clients ayant déjà opté pour un mur noir en fond nous l’avons accentué en créant un véritable mur de chevrons. Travaillé de manière graphique, ce mur accent apporte beaucoup de charme à ce volume et définit l’emplacement de l’espace repas. Son assise, une banquette XXL réalisée sur mesure s’étend de part en part de la pièce et accueille les nombreuses plantes vertes. Côté cuisine, un relooking a permis de conserver la majorité des meubles existants. Selon le souhait de nos clients, le mobilier en très bon état a simplement été repeint et des poignées en cuir très tendance ont été installées. Seul l’ensemble de meubles hauts a été remplacé au profit d’une composition plus légère visuellement jouant sur des placards de dimensions variées. Au salon, le meuble tv déjà présent est réveillé par une teinte douce et des étagères en chêne massif. Le joli mur bleu séparant les deux pièces est habillé d’un ensemble d’assiettes au design actuel et d’un miroir central qui joue sur la rondeur. En fond de pièce, un bureau épuré et fonctionnel prend place. Le large plan est associé à un duo d’étagères verticales décoratives qui s’élancent jusqu’au plafond pour équilibrer les volumes. Pour les couleurs, des teintes douces et élégantes comme le blanc ou le beige mettent en valeur la luminosité et la décoration. Un contraste entre ces couleurs claires et le noir apportent de la modernité et les tons orangés réchauffent l’atmosphère. Le mobilier épuré et les touches de métal se marient naturellement pour donner du caractère à cet appartement, ergonomique et convivial dans lequel les matières se mêlent les unes aux autres avec simplicité.

Rich walnut is the perfect choice of timber for the statement island in this design, as it adds a sense of exclusivity and intensity that’s perfect for an island of this size. Painted panels add an interesting, eye catching element to the island and helps to keep everything feeling fresh and different. The owners wanted a space to entertain family and friends- cook, eat, and socialise together. So Naked Kitchens designed a kitchen that was perfect for this. The cool, patterned floor feels natural and contrasts perfectly with the rich walnut timber and cool, neutral cabinetry. The classic shaker cabinets are perfect in this property, they are simple and sophisticated and sit perfectly alongside the elegant marble. A corner of the room is designated as a coffee making station- what a wonderful room to entertain in and come down to breakfast to every morning. The beauty of a Naked Kitchen is that it is entirely bespoke, and you can have exactly what you want.
