The open plan kitchen mixes simple wood-grained IKEA cabinets with a classic 1952 vintage O'Keefe & Merritt double oven, offset by a custom installation of vintage hand-painted Spanish tiles as a backsplash, set into classic subway tile. The peninsula and counters are a gray quartz, and the farmhouse sink is from IKEA. Fridge and Dishwasher are stainless. Custom stove hood surround hide a powerful extractor fan. Le projet Lafayette est un projet extraordinaire. Un Loft, en plein coeur de Paris, aux accents industriels qui baigne dans la lumière grâce à son immense verrière. Nous avons opéré une rénovation partielle pour ce magnifique loft de 200m2. La raison ? Il fallait rénover les pièces de vie et les chambres en priorité pour permettre à nos clients de s’installer au plus vite. C’est pour quoi la rénovation sera complétée dans un second temps avec le changement des salles de bain. Côté esthétique, nos clients souhaitaient préserver l’originalité et l’authenticité de ce loft tout en le remettant au goût du jour. L’exemple le plus probant concernant cette dualité est sans aucun doute la cuisine. D’un côté, on retrouve un côté moderne et neuf avec les caissons et les façades signés Ikea ainsi que le plan de travail sur-mesure en verre laqué blanc. D’un autre, on perçoit un côté authentique avec les carreaux de ciment sur-mesure au sol de Mosaïc del Sur ; ou encore avec ce bar en bois noir qui siège entre la cuisine et la salle à manger. Il s’agit d’un meuble chiné par nos clients que nous avons intégré au projet pour augmenter le côté authentique de l’intérieur. A noter que la grandeur de l’espace a été un véritable challenge technique pour nos équipes. Elles ont du échafauder sur plusieurs mètres pour appliquer les peintures sur les murs. Ces dernières viennent de Farrow & Ball et ont fait l’objet de recommandations spéciales d’une coloriste.

This kitchen shows just how much styles can be mixed within the same room: a Matt Black Kuhlmann kitchen has handle-less base units, which has then been mixed with copper feature handles on the tall units. Original oak beams, a solid wood floor and copper accents in the sink and tap add to the warm feel of the room. The customer also specified a custom breakfast bar and matching table, which have been skimmed in micro cement by Relentless Interiors.

An open kitchen design can feel vast and empty without a few personal touches with decor. The key to keeping it looking great all the time is clean clutter free countertops, and a few accessories to add some character.

This rustic kitchen has had a partial refresh with new laminate plywood bench tops replacing old blue formica. Mosaic tiles on the splash back give an organic texture to what is a predominately white kitchen. The open shelving was given a lift with a black wall to make the glassware and other elements pop.

The back of this 1920s brick and siding Cape Cod gets a compact addition to create a new Family room, open Kitchen, Covered Entry, and Master Bedroom Suite above. European-styling of the interior was a consideration throughout the design process, as well as with the materials and finishes.
