This fun and quirky kitchen is all thing eclectic. Pink tile and emerald green cabinets make a statement. With accents of pine wood shelving and butcher block countertop. Top it off with white quartz countertop and hexagon tile floor for texture. Of course, the lipstick gold fixtures!

A series of small cramped rooms at the back of this clients house made the spaces inefficient and non-functional. By removing walls and combining the spaces, the kitchen was allowed to span the entire width of the back of the house. A combination of painted and wood finishes ties the new space to the rest of the historic home while also showcasing the colorful and eclectic tastes of the client.

An electrical outlet was installed in the appliance garage to allow the use of the appliance with ease.

We were commissioned in 2006 to refurbish and remodel a ground floor and basement maisonette within an 1840s stuccoed house in Notting Hill. From the outset, a priority was to remove various partitions and accretions that had been added over the years, in order to restore the original proportions of the two handsome ground floor rooms. The new stone fireplace and plaster cornice installed in the living room are in keeping with the period of the building.

APARTMENT BERLIN V Stimmige Farben und harmonische Wohnlichkeit statt kühler, weißer Räume: Für diese Berliner Altbauwohnung entwarf THE INNER HOUSE zunächst ein stimmiges Farbkonzept. Während die Küche in hellen Farbtönen gehalten ist, bestimmen warme Erdtöne das Wohnzimmer. Im Schlafzimmer dominieren gemütliche Blautöne. Nach einem Umzug beauftragte ein Kunde THE INNER HOUSE erneut mit der Gestaltung seiner Wohnräume. So entstand auf 80 Quadratmetern im Prenzlauer Berg eine harmonische Mischung aus Alt und Neu, Gewohntem und Ungewohntem. Das bereits vorhandene, stilvolle Mobiliar wurde dabei um einige ausgewählte Stücke ergänzt. This project involved the remodelling of the ground and first floors and a small rear addition at a Victorian townhouse in Notting Hill. The brief included opening-up the ground floor reception rooms so as to increase the illusion of space and light, and to fully benefit from the view of the landscaped communal garden beyond. We recently took on an exciting whole-home renovation for this lovely historic Trinity in Center City Philadelphia. Originally built in the mid-1800s, the house footprint is just over 17’ x 13’. As is typical of this type of 3-story house, the kitchen is located in the basement, making this house four floors of occupied space with overall square footage totaling just under 900 square feet. The homeowner felt the former kitchen was cramped, dimly lit, and inefficiently designed, and she was in search of help in bringing her artistic vision for the space to life, blending both old and new elements through an exciting mix of textures and character. High on her priority list was integrating her wonderful collection of objects gathered from her travels around the world. We brought our design skills and construction experience to the team, working with the homeowner and the designer to develop a host of creative solutions, including the installation of an Indonesian screen as a sliding door covering a newly reconfigured utility area, which includes a new on-demand hot water heater, mounted next to a new electrical panel with ample room for service and access. Other Noteworthy Features and Solutions: New crisp drywall blended with original masonry wall textures and original exposed beams Custom-glazed adler wood cabinets, beautiful fusion Quartzite and custom cherry counters, and a copper sink were selected for a wonderful interplay of colors, textures, and Old World feel Small-space efficiencies designed for real-size humans, including built-ins wherever possible, limited free-standing furniture, and no upper cabinets Built-in storage and appliances under the counter (refrigerator, freezer, washer, dryer, and microwave drawer) Additional multi-function storage under stairs Extensive lighting plan with multiple sources and types of light to make this partially below-grade space feel bright and cheery Enlarged window well to bring much more light into the space Insulation added to create sound buffer from the floor above All Photos by Linda McManus Photography
