We completed a project in the charming city of York. This kitchen seamlessly blends style, functionality, and a touch of opulence. From the glass roof that bathes the space in natural light to the carefully designed feature wall for a captivating bar area, this kitchen is a true embodiment of sophistication. The first thing that catches your eye upon entering this kitchen is the striking lime green cabinets finished in Little Greene ‘Citrine’, adorned with elegant brushed golden handles from Heritage Brass.

Condos are often a challenge – can’t move water, venting has to remain connected to existing ducting and recessed cans may not be an option. In this project, we had an added challenge – we could not lower the ceiling on the exterior wall due to a continual leak issue that the HOA has put off due to the multi-million-dollar expense. DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Work Centers: prep, baking, clean up, message, beverage and entertaining. Vignette Design: avoid wall to wall cabinets, enhance the work center philosophy Geometry: create a more exciting and natural flow ANGLES: the baking center features a Miele wall oven and Liebherr Freezer, the countertop is 36” deep (allowing for an extra deep appliance garage with stainless tambour). CURVES: the island, desk and ceiling is curved to create a more natural flow. A raised drink counter in Sapele allows for “bellying up to the bar” CIRCLES: the 60” table (seating for 6) is supported by a steel plate and a custom column (used also to support the end of the curved desk – not shown) ISLAND CHALLENGE: To install recessed cans and connect to the existing ducting – we dropped the ceiling 6”. The dropped ceiling curves at the end of the island to the existing ceiling height at the pantry/desk area of the kitchen. The owners of this historic 1931 property purchased the home, intending to transform it from an outdated duplex to a functional single-family home. Beginning with the kitchen, the remodel aimed to combine the existing and separate spaces, including a tiny kitchen and cramped eating area, to creating a comfortable, practical space for their large family to cook, eat and do homework. The main scope of the remodel was to increase light, create flow throughout the main floor by connecting the kitchen to the dining and living room, and bring in elements of the client's heritage and showcase their travels through the finishes of the design. The clients hoped to achieve all these while restoring and enhancing the home's original architecture, which was covered up by prior remodels.

A Modern themed Kitchen. Dark emprador Italian marble for back splash adds characteristic to this neutral toned kitchen. White marble top ,acrylic shutters and Italian marble add touch of luxury to the space.

Our goal on this project was to make the kitchen in Chicago's popular Rogers Park neighborhood work for a family of six plus feel comfortable when they hosted family gatherings. We opened up the space, both literally and aesthetically, with the removal of the original center posts (see before photos) and a bright color palette that lends a light and open feel to the space. Our clients can hardly believe that their once small, dark, uncomfortable main floor has become a bright, functional and beautiful space where they can now comfortably host friends &family, and hang out as a family.
