A new breakfast and wine bar was created where the old fridge had been. Keeping a side wall allowed for a large magnet board to organize this family's activities, conveniently located, yet out of sight from visitors.

I love the color of this island. The homeowner was so brave to select such a bold color and it turned out amazingly. She wanted to have details on aspect of her kitchen and we added that with additional moldings. Photographs by : Libbie Martin

This amazing renovation focused on solving a series of problems that a previous kitchen expansion had created. By rearranging the appliance placement, updating the cabinetry, designing all new storage solutions and maximizing the amazing outdoor views; we cured the spit personality disorder plaguing the existing kitchen. Vaulted ceilings with bright skylights, reflective glass wall tiles, sleek sophisticated Cambria quartz counter tops, fingerprint-free faucet, multi-functional Prolific kitchen sink by Kohler, stainless steel appliances, creative storage solutions, all new lighting and timeless shaker cabinets by Wellborn lend to the now bright, open, vivacious and flawless function of this newly renovated galley style kitchen. White base cabinets along the outside walls contrast perfectly with the dark grey island cabinets. Linear satin nickel door and drawer pulls coordinate with the stainless steel appliances and sink. An eclectic blend of vintage and modern furnishings, artwork and rugs create a comfortable balance that feels and looks timeless. Breathtaking backyard views are artfully framed by new Pella windows and doors with integral blinds between the glass. The Wolf range is centred in this view with glass cabinets and a concealed range hood, allowing for more storage above. Drawers provide organized storage for tools and pans.

As we turn the corner, open shelves provide storage and an appliance center that utilizes the space under the roof line.

Two young children were the focus of this design challenge, with creating functional everyday spaces at the heart of our client's goals. A working larder to hide counter top appliances, a coffee bar, and breakfast station sits adjacent to a round kitchen table. The U shaped kitchen with centre island became the hub of the home for both everyday cooking and homework station, to entertaining friends and family for larger get togethers.

In the previous layout, the basement stairs were located approximately where the new kitchen island sits. The stairs were relocated, and walls were removed in order to open this space up.
