The clients had purchased the table and chairs for their previous home . They fit well in this space, thus we recovered them in the lush cut velvet from Designer's guild. They are now show stopping. The paint is #6861, "Radish" by Sherwin Williams.

Instead of sacrificing precious counter and storage space in the U, I designed a between-the-studs shallow broom niche for the new eating alcove wall. It’s about 3-1/2" deep — enough for a broom and dustpan, and a few cleaning supplies on the shelf above. It's easy to grab the broom even when someone is seated at the table. Although the rest of the kitchen has frameless cabinets, the broom cabinet uses a framed front. Canyon Creek, the manufacturer, has both framed and frameless lines. Photo by Ellene Newman

This 5 bedroom home was furnished for clients that lived out of the country and they wanted to AirBnB it when they were not here. It was important for them to maintain some character and their own style, which is a mix of modern and arts and crafts, with some Art Deco accents. The table is a Mathew Hilton Cross table and chairs in dark stained oak. The sideboards are by Marks and Spencer. Accessories by John Lewis and West Elm.

Embracing the challenge of grounding this open, light-filled space, our Boulder studio focused on comfort, ease, and high design. The built-in lounge is flanked by storage cabinets for puzzles and games for this client who loves having people over. The high-back Living Divani sofa is paired with U-Turn Benson chairs and a "Rabari" rug from Nanimarquina for casual gatherings. The throw pillows are a perfect mix of Norwegian tapestry fabric and contemporary patterns. In the child's bedroom, we added an organically shaped Vitra Living Tower, which also provides a cozy reading niche. Bold Marimekko fabric colorfully complements more traditional detailing and creates a contrast between old and new. We loved collaborating with our client on an eclectic bedroom, where everything is collected and combined in a way that allows distinctive pieces to work together. A custom walnut bed supports the owner's tatami mattress. Vintage rugs ground the space and pair well with a vintage Scandinavian chair and dresser. Combining unexpected objects is one of our favorite ways to add liveliness and personality to a space. In the little guest bedroom, our client (a creative and passionate collector) was the inspiration behind an energetic and eclectic mix. Similarly, turning one of our client's favorite old sweaters into pillow covers and popping a Native American rug on the wall helped pull the space together. Slightly eclectic and invitingly cozy, the twin guestroom beckons for settling in to read, nap or daydream. This 60" round dining table easily accommodates eight. It also can become a wonderful 'walk around' buffet. The "menu board" can be seen through the dining room door. The doors to an existing closet were replaced with 'writeable glass" in black . Guests can see the menu as well as leave their own greetings. The unique fixture was made by Wired Custom Lighting , and it casts a romantic glow over diners. Strategically placed lighting highlights the owners collection of interesting art pieces.
