This homeowner loved her home, loved the location, but it needed updating and a more efficient use of the condensed space she had for her master bedroom/bath. She was desirous of a spa-like master suite that not only used all spaces efficiently but was a tranquil escape to enjoy. Her master bathroom was small, dated and inefficient with a corner shower and she used a couple small areas for storage but needed a more formal master closet and designated space for her shoes. Additionally, we were working with severely sloped ceilings in this space, which required us to be creative in utilizing the space for a hallway as well as prized shoe storage while stealing space from the bedroom. She also asked for a laundry room on this floor, which we were able to create using stackable units. Custom closet cabinetry allowed for closed storage and a fun light fixture complete the space. Her new master bathroom allowed for a large shower with fun tile and bench, custom cabinetry with transitional plumbing fixtures, and a sliding barn door for privacy.

The client wanted a clean bathroom with a soaking tub as well as a larger shower. We used blue and teal subway shaped tiles on the wall, as well as penny tiles on the floor to introduce color and interest.

This Scandinavian inspired blue and white bathroom features a cheerful encaustic cement tiled floor and shower pan with a bold geometric pattern. A floating natural finished maple vanity offers lots of storage via hidden drawers. Niches flanking the vanity showcase matching natural maple shelves. The blue color used in the floor tiles was matched in the Twilight Blue grout selected for the penny tiles. Bath and Shower included one vintage window. Our shower glass company fabricated an exterior and interior pane of frosted glass to enclose the existing window. Tile was installed inside the window sill and around the window. Window frames cut down to fit. Now the window is protected inside and out. It was very important to the homeowner to keep this matching window

A classic master bathroom we designed that integrates light woods, unique tiling, and detailed hardware. Mounted shelving and towel racks offer space for artwork, toiletries, and dry towels, adding some much-needed space in this smaller scale bathroom. We were able to fit in a spa-like walk-in shower, separate toilet space, and wooden vanity (with plenty of additional storage). The last detail we added to this master bath is the gorgeous tiled flooring; a light blue pattern that matches the color of the walls. Project designed by Courtney Thomas Design in La Cañada. This eclectic master bathroom design packs a lot of features into the space. The large, walk-in shower with a Euro style glass door and panel is the focal point of the bathroom and includes grab bars, an adjustable slide bar with handheld showerhead, and corner storage shelves. The free standing vanity cabinet incorporates a porcelain top and integrated bowl. A recessed medicine cabinet with a mirrored front finishes off this bathroom.

As with many residents of the Armitage neighborhood in South Minneapolis, the owners of this 1940-built Tudor home love where they live. So much so, they were willing to commit to a large, whole-house remodel in order to stay put. Castle worked diligently with these homeowners to help them realize their ultimate goals for their home. By redesigning the first-floor layout, Castle was able to create a much more open space. Walls previously separating the kitchen and dining room were removed and replaced with more countertop space in the form of a seated peninsula. The kitchen was also updated with new granite countertops, more backsplash tile to match the existing, and partial new cabinetry by The Woodshop of Avon to match existing. New hardwood flooring was installed in the kitchen to match the existing dining room. The size of the dining room was then almost doubled by removing an adjacent first-floor bedroom. A new sunroom was added in the back which opened the space even further. Dixie Caress carpet in the color “Wisteria” was chosen for the sunroom and throughout the 2nd floor. The 2nd floor was given a total makeover with a large dormer addition and a master bedroom suite above the new sunroom. Corbels decorate the exterior while giving support to the overhanging floor of the master bedroom. Now with three bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs, there’s room for everyone, and a wonderful great room on the main floor to go with it.
