When we looked at the space objectively, we took inspiration from the vast amount of light that flooded the property. We embraces this with brighter toned, soft feeling fabrics and leathers. The kitchen by Kitchens International was a cause of inspiration for the dining area – choosing materials of white glass and polished chrome, contrasting with dark toned glass accessories.
For bedroom areas, we decided on cool tones of blush, again being inspired by the washes of natural light in the spaces. The layout of the rooms allowed us to create sperate living areas within the rooms. We chose areas of work, play, sleep and relaxation

Formal Dining room, featuring wicker-backed rounded dining chairs as well as a pictograph buffet beneath a beautiful afro-inspired art piece flanked by a spotted table lamp and metal sculptures. Scrolling up to the hero image of this blog post, you were greeted with another view of this stunning formal dining room. The wood dining table is framed by merlot velvet drapery and orange pampas grass in wicker floor vases atop an exquisitely textured area rug. This home exudes a style that truly needs to be seen to be appreciated.
Headspace Organizing
This renter was moving into a one bedroom apartment from a family home. As such, many areas are multi-use spaces. This room functions as both a dining room and work space, where the client writes. This nook provided storage space as well as an opportunity for the client to express her personal style.
By placing these low bookcases side-by-side, we created both housing for books as well as a surface which can be used as a sideboard when entertaining. We culled from the clients art collection some of her favorite pieces and displayed them together in a dynamic collection. Using strong pieces such as these takes advantage of the neutral wall color (which the client is not allowed to alter) by using it as a blank backdrop. The red box is decorative and functional, housing the clients go-to office supplies such as pens, pencils, notepaper, etc.
Cafeina Design
Designed from a “high-tech, local handmade” philosophy, this house was conceived with the selection of locally sourced materials as a starting point. Red brick is widely produced in San Pedro Cholula, making it the stand-out material of the house.
An artisanal arrangement of each brick, following a non-perpendicular modular repetition, allowed expressivity for both material and geometry-wise while maintaining a low cost.
The house is an introverted one and incorporates design elements that aim to simultaneously bring sufficient privacy, light and natural ventilation: a courtyard and interior-facing terrace, brick-lattices and windows that open up to selected views.
In terms of the program, the said courtyard serves to articulate and bring light and ventilation to two main volumes: The first one comprised of a double-height space containing a living room, dining room and kitchen on the first floor, and bedroom on the second floor. And a second one containing a smaller bedroom and service areas on the first floor, and a large terrace on the second.
Various elements such as wall lamps and an electric meter box (among others) were custom-designed and crafted for the house.

Entering the formal living area, you're immediately captivated by how the design has artfully blended different textures and colors to create a unique, inviting atmosphere. The custom gold velvet tufted sofa with polka dot cream and iron framed living chairs draw your eye to the sturdy hammered brass side table with Afro-inspired floor and table lamps. Meanwhile, the black reclaimed wood coffee table is further accentuated by the patterned area rug juxtaposed with the black and white striped side table and walls adorned with a collection of round brass mirrors.
