When this family approached Gayler Design Build, they had a unique, octagon-shaped room that lacked flow and modern amenities. The home initially was constructed from three small houses that were "joined" together to create this unusual shape. It was important for the family to keep the open floor plan but add more functional space, to include new cabinetry and a large center island. In order to build the open floor plan, Gayler Design Build had to design around a central post and refinish the octagon concrete flooring, which was cut to reconfigure items in space and access sewer lines, etc.

The large open space continues the themes set out in the Living and Dining areas with a similar palette of darker surfaces and finishes, chosen to create an effect that is highly evocative of past centuries, linking new and old with a poetic approach. The dark grey concrete floor is a paired with traditional but luxurious Tadelakt Moroccan plaster, chose for its uneven and natural texture as well as beautiful earthy hues. The supporting structure is exposed and painted in a deep red hue to suggest the different functional areas and create a unique interior which is then reflected on the exterior of the extension.

L’objectif premier pour cet espace de travail est d’optimiser au maximum chaque mètre carré et créer un univers à l’image de notre cliente. Véritable espace de vie celui-ci accueille de multiples fonctions : un espace travail, une cuisine, des alcoves pour se détendre, une bibliothèque de rangement et décoration notamment. Dans l’entrée, le mur miroir agrandit l’espace et accentue la luminosité ambiante. Coté bureaux, l’intégralité du mur devient un espace de rangement. La bibliothèque que nous avons dessinée sur-mesure permet de gagner de la place et vient s’adapter à l’espace disponible en proposant des rangements dissimulés, une penderie et une zone d’étagères ouverte pour la touche décorative. Afin de délimiter l’espace, le choix d’une cloison claustra est une solution simple et efficace pour souligner la superficie disponible tout en laissant passer la lumière naturelle. Elle permet une douce transition entre l’entrée, les bureaux et la cuisine. Associer la couleur « verte » à un matériau naturel comme le bois crée une ambiance 100% relaxante et agréable. Les détails géométriques et abstraits, que l’on retrouve au sol mais également sur les tableaux apportent à l’intérieur une note très chic. Ce motif s’associe parfaitement au mobilier et permet de créer un relief dans la pièce. L’utilisation de matières naturelles est privilégiée et donne du caractère à la décoration. Le raphia que l’on retrouve dans les suspensions ou le rotin pour les chaises dégage une atmosphère authentique, chaleureuse et détendue.

Situated in the Mapesbury Conservation area, this Ground Floor Extension project carefully considers its surroundings, the existing structure and other properties within the vicinity. The design adds as staggered single storey rear extension to a detached 4 bed home to accommodate a larger kitchen and living space that is more in keeping with the proportions of the property. All the materials were cautiously selected, London red stock bricks were used externally to match the existing brickwork and the use of contemporary glazing on the rear façade compliments the original features and stops the extension from being bulky and over dominate.

This kitchen was designed around a view. Three picture windows frame the coastal mountains, and the clean white cabinetry, soft gray countertops, and low faucet are designed to be looked past towards the glorious view. Cambria Beaumont quartz on the 10ft island creates a statement piece and a seating area for guests to enjoy the view. In einer Gründerzeitvilla in Berlin Zehlendorf wurde der ursprüngliche Salon in eine großzügige Wohnküche umgewandelt. Eine breite Kücheninsel mit eleganten Details bildet das Zentrum des Raums. Ihr gegenüber befindet sich eine Küchenzeile mit Spüle und Hochschränken. Die Fronten dieser bb Standard Küche sind mit olivefarbenem Linoleum beschichtet. Griffleisten und offene Regale bestehen aus geölter Eiche.
