Our client planned to spend more time in this home and wanted to increase its livability. The project was complicated by the strata-specified deadline for exterior work, the logistics of working in an occupied strata complex, and the need to minimize the impact on surrounding neighbours. By reducing the deck space, removing the hot tub, and moving out the dining room wall, we were able to add important livable space inside. Our homeowners were thrilled to have a larger kitchen. The additional 500 square feet of living space integrated seamlessly into the existing architecture. This award-winning home features reclaimed fir flooring (from the Stanley Park storm), and wood-cased sliding doors in the dining room, that allow full access to the outdoor balcony with its exquisite views. Green building products and processes were used extensively throughout the renovation, which resulted in a modern, highly-efficient, and beautiful home.

Normandy Designer Chris Ebert recommended removing the existing peninsula, which was creating an unwanted barrier between the kitchen and seating area, and not utilizing the full potential of the space. The peninsula was replaced with an island, meeting several of the homeowners’ needs. The new island created a better flow in the kitchen, added storage space and more seating than the perimeter had provided.

We transformed the ground floor of this house, which was a collection of small, dark and disjointed spaces into one full of light, and life. The previous floorplan was a bit of a rabbit-warren, with an enclosed entrance hall with six separate doors coming off it, each leading to a room with a different function. A very dated kitchen was linked with an even smaller dining area, with a small utility room off of that. The house had no sense of cohesion, very little natural light, and no sense of space...or fun. Our aim was to create a large space for entertaining friends and family, somewhere to eat, drink and be merry. We converted the kitchen into a snug, and opened up most of the rear of the house and introduced two large expanses of glazing out onto the garden terrace. A large island, along the main entrance axis of the space was introduced, with a large bespoke pocket door allowing the space to be completely open, providing a clear unobstructed view from the front door throughout the house to the rear terrace. The palette is very smart and subtle mix of light ivory with accents of dark greys, with brushed brass fittings, and warm timber furnishings to bring in added warmth.

In this remodel, outdated cabinets were exchanged for modern shaker-style cabinets in a combination of finishes from Grabill Cabinets including Rift Cut White Oak Seaspray, Superwhite and a green custom paint match. EVNI matte porcelain countertops and full slab backsplash with lots of movement invite a natural texture into the space. Pops of gold and the green hidden bar cabinets bring unexpected sparkle and color into the space. The range hood with custom gold metal trim is a design-forward focal point in the space. Kitchen features a new layout with large custom granite island with prep sink, black Quartz perimeter countertops, mosaic tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances. The travertine tile picture frame behind the gas range helps break up the mosaic backsplash with a black liner. The large stainless steel drop hood adds drama to the beautiful space. Drop pendant lighting hangs over main sink. The maple cabinets have a shaker style door with stainless steel handles. The rain glass in the upper cabinets to the left helps open up the space even more.

Light, Bright open Kitchen with an extra large island. The island is the hub of the entire main floor of the home with seating for four, a prep sink and gas cooktop. Funky pendant lights add interest.

This elegant expression of a modern Colorado style home combines a rustic regional exterior with a refined contemporary interior. The client's private art collection is embraced by a combination of modern steel trusses, stonework and traditional timber beams. Generous expanses of glass allow for view corridors of the mountains to the west, open space wetlands towards the south and the adjacent horse pasture on the east.
