Our clients in East Horsley had a vision for their new home, which involved a lot of research and planning as they undertook significant works. To create their new home, they chose to gut the property from top to toe, including updating electrics and plumbing, as well as adding a large rear extension to create a new open plan kitchen area. To create the light, bright and open space in the new kitchen, the extension features 2 sets of bifold doors on adjacent walls, allowing our clients to completely open up almost 6metres of wall space and enjoy the free flow access onto the garden and flood the room with fresh air and light. As well as the two sets of FD85® bifold doors, additional light was created in the kitchen by the addition of a large modular Pure Glass Flat Roof Light. With its minimal, sleek frame and aluminium beams, the Pure Glass Flat Roof Light creates a breath-taking centrepiece. Our clients matched the anthracite grey frame of the bifold doors for continuity between their glazing in the extension. A full width contemporary extension to the rear of this period property in Quorn, Leicestershire was the starting point for this delightfully light open plan family kitchen. Our clients' where looking to use the project as a catalyst for a lifestyle change, with the large open plan space providing kitchen, dining and seating areas, allowing the original ding room to be used as a children' play room / den. Full width glazed doors admit sumptuous light levels which are reflected upwards by the white Quartz worktops and grey limestone floor, and allow the bold choice of Farrow&Ball Downpipe for the cabinetry colour. Sleek modern appliances are carefully integrated, together with a concealed extractor and ducting which sit flush with the ceiling plasterwork. The completed project has brought about the desired change in how the whole ground floor of the home is utilised.

Rhona and David Randall’s 1986 home near Basingstoke, North Hampshire originally had a kitchen with a separate utility room attached, which meant that their kitchen space was somewhat limited to being a functional kitchen and not the kitchen, dining, living space that they could use to entertain friends and family in. It was important to then create a new utility space for the family within the newly enlarged kitchen dining room, and Rhona commented: “Mark then designed in a Utility/Laundry Cupboard that is now hidden away behind bi-fold doors and is a much better use of space and now has our washing machine, tumble dryer and water softener. It was also his idea to take off the kitchen door leading into the hallway, which now gives a better flow to the room. Mark then designed in another bi-fold door to hide away the big fridge freezer and to use part of that area for coats.”

A combination of colours can work really well for kitchen cabinetry. Here neutral #pubeckstone and bold #stiffkeyblue from #farrowandball combine for a fresh feel. This large contemporary kitchen was previously several seperate rooms, with building work caried our by our in-house, on-site team including builder, fitter and decorator.
