The simple use of black and white…classic, timeless, elegant. No better words could describe the renovation of this kitchen, dining room and seating area. First, an amazing wall of custom cabinets was installed. The home’s 10’ ceilings provided a nice opportunity to stack up decorative glass cabinetry and highly crafted crown moldings on top, while maintaining a considerable amount of cabinetry just below it. The custom-made brush stroke finished cabinetry is highlighted by a chimney-style wood hood surround with leaded glass cabinets. Custom display cabinets with leaded glass also separate the kitchen from the dining room. Next, the homeowner installed a 5’ x 14’ island finished in black. It houses the main sink with a pedal style control disposal, dishwasher, microwave, second bar sink, beverage center refrigerator and still has room to sit five to six people. The hardwood floor in the kitchen and family room matches the rest of the house. The homeowner wanted to use a very selective white quartzite stone for counters and backsplash to add to the brightness of their kitchen. Contemporary chandeliers over the island are timeless and elegant. High end appliances covered by custom panels are part of this featured project, both to satisfy the owner’s needs and to implement the classic look desired for this kitchen. Beautiful dining and living areas surround this kitchen. All done in a contemporary style to create a seamless design and feel the owner had in mind.

Our client had been living in her beautiful lakeside retreat for about 3 years. All around were stunning views of the lake and mountains, but the view from inside was minimal. It felt dark and closed off from the gorgeous waterfront mere feet away. She desired a bigger kitchen, natural light, and a contemporary look. Referred to JRP by a subcontractor our client walked into the showroom one day, took one look at the modern kitchen in our design center, and was inspired! After talking about the frustrations of dark spaces and limitations when entertaining groups of friends, the homeowner and the JRP design team emerged with a new vision. Two walls between the living room and kitchen would be eliminated and structural revisions were needed for a common wall shared a wall with a neighbor. With the wall removals and the addition of multiple slider doors, the main level now has an open layout. Everything in the home went from dark to luminous as sunlight could now bounce off white walls to illuminate both spaces. Our aim was to create a beautiful modern kitchen which fused the necessities of a functional space with the elegant form of the contemporary aesthetic. The kitchen playfully mixes frameless white upper with horizontal grain oak lower cabinets and a fun diagonal white tile backsplash. Gorgeous grey Cambria quartz with white veining meets them both in the middle. The large island with integrated barstool area makes it functional and a great entertaining space. The master bedroom received a mini facelift as well. White never fails to give your bedroom a timeless look. The beautiful, bright marble shower shows what's possible when mixing tile shape, size, and color. The marble mosaic tiles in the shower pan are especially bold paired with black matte plumbing fixtures and gives the shower a striking visual. Absolutely stunning Taj Mahal natural quartz countertop fabricated with a waterfall end on both sides. Upper wall cabinets were prepped with amber colored glass inserts. All Gaggenau appliances; 36" refrigerator, 24" microwave and oven, 30" cooktop. Stainless steel toekick throughout to enhance the other chrome and stainless steel hardware and appliances used. Appliance panels were used on the dishwasher and refrigerator. Two finish options are featured; Harbor Mist with Pewter Glaze and a custom high gloss paint. All Wood-Mode cabinets. Having helped this young couple with their bathroom redesign, we were asked this year to help them reconfigure their existing dining room and narrow kitchen into a full width south facing kitchen | diner | family room. The space was split into 3 small areas but by removing the existing rear wall of the original house at ground level we were able to combine all three areas into a huge open plan family room with wall to wall french windows opening onto a new deck and south facing sun drenched garden. The new combined area underwent an extensive refurbishment, with new floor, wall and ceiling finishes and an extensive kitchen redesign with custom door fronts and island for 4.

Studio Minosa was committed to reinventing this tired interior, set on the edge of a National Park perched on the top of the hill with its lovely ocean views. Renovations can be tricky, working with existing architectural “features” and trying to squeeze a more modern lifestyle into a set of walls that cannot be expanded. This interior was dominated by its past, but this transformation will define its future. A simple idea of dividing the space with its materiality and detailing has taken the focus off the existing architectural “features” and placed the focus firmly on its interior. Combined with thoughtful and considered spatial planning and a few secret doors this space is the sophisticated showstopper the clients dreamed off.

The original kitchen in this rowhouse was all along one wall and had dark cabinets and a lack of counter space. By adding just 170 square feet along the back, we were able to expand the kitchen with an island and cabinetry on both sides and add a small sitting area. While the original sliding doors and transom allowed for natural light, adding skylights in the metal roof and tall sliding doors floods the room and kitchen with light. The sliding doors open to a new deck, providing great flow for entertaining. There is new oak flooring throughout this level. The client provided a glass-front cabinet for glassware that our carpenters framed so it looks built-in.
