One wowee kitchen! Designed for a family with Sri-Lankan and Singaporean heritage, the brief for this project was to create a Scandi-Asian styled kitchen. The design features ‘Skog’ wall panelling, straw bar stools, open shelving, a sofia swing, a bar and an olive tree.

Stunning contemporary, custom black and white kitchen opens to modern great room. Waterfall edge on the large island, with tube-style pendants over. Cabinetry style is "Ironside" from Challenger Designs, Nappanee, IN. Cambria Bentley on the island and Cambria Mersey on the perimeter cabinets. COREtec Stone Sahni flooring. In 2019, Interior designer Alexandra Brown approached Matter to design and make cabinetry for this penthouse apartment. The brief was to create a rich and opulent space, featuring a favoured smoked oak veneer. We looked to the Art Deco inspired features of the building and referenced its curved corners and newly installed aged brass detailing in our design. We combined the smoked oak veneer with cambia ash cladding in the kitchen and bar areas to complement the green and brown quartzite stone surfaces chosen by Alex perfectly. We then designed custom brass handles, shelving and a large-framed mirror as a centrepiece for the bar, all crafted impeccably by our friends at JN Custom Metal. Functionality and sustainability were the focus of our design, with hard-wearing charcoal Abet Laminati drawers and door fronts in the kitchen with custom J pull handles, Grass Nova ProScala drawers and Osmo oiled veneer that can be easily reconditioned over time. Design, plan, supply and install new kitchen. Works included taking the the room back to a complete shell condition. The original Edwardian structural timbers were treated for woodworm, acoustic insulation installed within the ceiling void, wall to the garden lined with thermal insulation. Radiator and position changed. The original internal hinged door was converted to a sliding pocket door to save space and improve access. All the original boiler pipework was exposed and interfered with the work surfaces, this has all been reconfigured and concealed to allow unhindered, clean lines around the work top area, The room is long and narrow and the new wood plank flooring has been laid diagonally to visually widen the room. Walls are painted in a two tone yellow which contrasts with the grey cabinetry, white worksurfaces and woodwork. The Strada handleless cabinets are finished in matte dust grey and finished with a white quartz work surface and upstand New celing, display and undercabinet and plinth lighting complete this bright, very functional and revived room.

The flush contemporary central fumed oak outer doors retract fully to reveal traditional shaker kitchen furniture behind. One end features a Gaggenau Wine Cabinet and a Drinks Cabinet and at the other end, doors open into a utility & storage cabinet behind.

Our client chose platinum blue matt and oak effect cashmere grey doors to help create a bright airy space. Clever storage solutions were key to this design, as we tried to come up with many storage options to help with the family's needs. The long, island is a bold statement within the room, as the two separate islands are connected by a simple, solid wood worktop, making the design unique. The mix-match of colours and materials work really well within the space and really show off the clients personality.

The Portobello kitchen is a beautiful contemporary kitchen that creates utility and function through wonderful design. This kitchen makes great use of a compact space without lacking style. Cabinets either side of the island maximise storage space whilst the tall run of Hague Blue cabinets provide areas for integrated appliances and larders. This kitchen optimizes intelligent design.

This total redevelopment renovation of this fabulous large country home meant the whole house was taken back to the external walls and roof rafters and all suspended floors dug up. All new Interior layout and two large extensions. 2 months of gutting the property before any building works commenced. This part of the house was in fact an old ballroom and one of the new extensions formed a beautiful new entrance hallway with stunning helical staircase. Our own design handmade and painted kitchen with Miele appliances. Painted in a gorgeous soft grey and with a fabulous 3.5 x 1 metre solid wood dovetailed breakfast bar and surround with led lighting. Stunning stone effect porcelain tiles which were for most of the ground floor, all with under floor heating. Skyframe openings on the ground and first floor giving uninterrupted views of the glorious open countryside. Lutron lighting throughout the whole of the property and Crestron Home Automation. A glass firebox fire was built into this room. for clients ease, giving a secondary heat source, but more for visual effect. 4KTV with plastered in the wall speakers, the wall to the right of the TV is only temporary as this will soon be an entrance and view to the large swimming pool extension with sliding Skyframe window system and all glass walkway. Still much more for this amazing project with stunnnig furniture and lighting, but already a beautiful light filled home.

The combination of cupboards, drawers and shelves provides optimum storage opportunities. A simple cornice runs along the top of the cabinets to provide a neat finish and obscure the mechanism for the roller blinds and ducting for the built-in extractor.

Appliance panels were used on the refrigerator to maintain a cohesive design. The waterfall countertop provides seating for four and features modern ghost barstools with chrome bases. The island houses a 30" x 20" - 5 burner Gaggenau cooktop. All cabinets are Wood-Mode and feature the Vanguard Plus door style. The main kitchen features the Harbor Mist with Pewter Glaze finish and the island features a custom high gloss paint. Interior Design by: Slovack Bass.
