Mitt i det hemtrevliga Vasastan blev vår uppgift att blåsa nytt liv i en lägenhet som en ung familj nyligen köpt. Utmaningen för oss var att modernisera lägenheten på 125 kvadratmeter och samtidigt bevara dess arkitektur från sent 1800-tal. För att få fram det tidsenliga hem familjen önskade, började skisserna gå mot en mer öppen planlösning. Beslutet att omplacera köket och slå upp en vägg där det tidigare varit ett sovrum, gjorde att hemmet kunde bjuda in till en mer social miljö. Tack vare förflyttningen av köket som placerades mer centralt i lägenheten, förvandlades platsen till en mer naturlig mötesplats. Den nya planlösningen blev grundläggande för att få fram rätt känsla men även val av material och andra detaljer spelade en viktig roll för att få en sammanhängande atmosfär. Lägenhetens generösa takhöjd bidrog till ett luftigt intryck och det naturliga ljuset utifrån gjorde att en klassisk skandinavisk palett i gråa toner kombinerat med inslag av trä föll sig passande. Elementen av mässing och de gammelrosa nyanserna adderade en trendig sofistikerad känsla. Genom att återställa detaljer som lister, spegelpaneler och stuckaturer i taket kunde slutresultatet signalera ett enhetligt samspel mellan gammalt och nytt. Так как владелец квартиры изначально отдавал предпочтение скандинавскому стилю, отделку подбирали соответствующую. Столешница гарнитура — из шпона натурального дуба, такой выбор сделан намеренно, несмотря на то, что дерево в интерьере кухни многим кажется не практичным. Да, у него возможны и трещинки, и потертости, и выгореть оно может. Но в этом прелесть натурального дерева.

A small enclosed kitchen is very common in many homes such as the home that we remodeled here. Opening a wall to allow natural light to penetrate the space is a must. When budget is important the solution can be as you see in this project - the wall was opened and removed but a structural post remained and it was incorporated in the design. The blue modern flat paneled cabinets was a perfect choice to contras the very familiar gray scale color scheme but it’s still compliments it since blue is in the correct cold color spectrum. Notice the great black windows and the fantastic awning window facing the pool. The awning window is great to be able to serve the exterior sitting area near the pool. Opening the wall also allowed us to compliment the kitchen with a nice bar/island sitting area without having an actual island in the space. The best part of this kitchen is the large built-in pantry wall with a tall wine fridge and a lovely coffee area that we built in the sitting area made the kitchen expend into the breakfast nook and doubled the area that is now considered to be the kitchen.

Mondrian steel patio doors were used on the rear of this property, the slim metal framing was used to maximise glass to this patio door, maintaining the industrial look while allowing maximum light to pass through. The minimal steel section finished in white supported the structural glass roof allowing light to ingress through the room.

The new open-concept floorplan combined three separate rooms to create a versatile space ideal for entertaining and large parties. The kitchen and eating area are positioned to be in synch with the living room, to maximize entertainment posibilities. The couple’s shared love for modern design, personal touches, and unique use of color gives these homeowners a space that is all their own.
