A couple with two young children appointed FPA to refurbish a large semi detached Victorian house in Wimbledon Park. The property, arranged on four split levels, had already been extended in 2007 by the previous owners. The clients only wished to have the interiors updated to create a contemporary family room. However, FPA interpreted the brief as an opportunity also to refine the appearance of the existing side extension overlooking the patio and devise a new external family room, framed by red cedar clap boards, laid to suggest a chevron floor pattern. The refurbishment of the interior creates an internal contemporary family room at the lower ground floor by employing a simple, yet elegant, selection of materials as the instrument to redirect the focus of the house towards the patio and the garden: light coloured European Oak floor is paired with natural Oak and white lacquered panelling and Lava Stone to produce a calming and serene space. This home is inspired by the Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House in Chicago and features large overhangs and a shallow sloped hip roof. The exterior features long pieces of Indiana split-faced limestone in varying heights and elongated norman brick with horizontal raked joints and vertical flush joints to further emphasize the linear theme. The courtyard features a combination of exposed aggregate and saw-cut concrete while the entry steps are porcelain tile. The siding and fascia are wire-brushed African mahogany with a smooth mahogany reveal between boards.

This new mountain-contemporary home was designed and built in the private club of Balsam Mountain, just outside of Asheville, NC. The homeowners wanted a contemporary styled residence that felt at home in the NC mountains. Rising above stone base that connects the house to the earth is cedar board and batten siding, Timber corners and entrance porch add a sturdy mountain posture to the overall aesthetic. The top is finished with mono pitched roofs to create dramatic lines and reinforce the contemporary feel.

When designing this home, we wanted to create an entertainers dream. The home is located in the heart of Rancho Mirage which attracts people from all over the world. This home sits on an acre and is on a private golf course. This view shows the grand circular driveway entrance which is surrounded by an enormous fountain, a central water feature with basalt columns and a glass bridge that leads to the front door. It is ultimately private, has 7 bedrooms, eight baths, and 360 degree views. We worked with an internationally renowned architect to design the home, selected all the interior and exterior hard surfaces, and furnished the interior.

This California modern exterior was designed with a mixture of both vertical and horizontal cedar siding. The darker stained horizontal cedar near the windows adds height and adds to the linear design of the home. The commercial grade windows show their scale from the exterior.
