This new house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood developed in the 1920’s, that is in transition, with new larger homes replacing the original modest-sized homes. The house is designed to be harmonious with its traditional neighbors, with divided lite windows, and hip roofs. The roofline of the shingled house steps down with the sloping property, keeping the house in scale with the neighborhood. Ocean view custom home Major remodel with new lifted high vault ceiling and ribbnon windows above clearstory http://ZenArchitect.com

The house is built onto an upslope lot, therefore the main living spaces which open onto the backyard are located on the upper floor which is accessed via a short run of stairs. To make the rather compact space appear more spacious, double doors were substituted for the original single width opening. A glass banister and a picture window above the door provide see-through surfaces. The chandelier which hangs from the newly vaulted ceiling adds a dramatic touch to this entryway. .

Ocean Bank is a contemporary style oceanfront home located in Chemainus, BC. We broke ground on this home in March 2021. Situated on a sloped lot, Ocean Bank includes 3,086 sq.ft. of finished space over two floors. The main floor features 11′ ceilings throughout. However, the ceiling vaults to 16′ in the Great Room. Large doors and windows take in the amazing ocean view. The Kitchen in this custom home is truly a beautiful work of art. The 10′ island is topped with beautiful marble from Vancouver Island. A panel fridge and matching freezer, a large butler’s pantry, and Wolf range are other desirable features of this Kitchen. Also on the main floor, the double-sided gas fireplace that separates the Living and Dining Rooms is lined with gorgeous tile slabs. The glass and steel stairwell railings were custom made on site.

Lakefront residence in exclusive south Florida golf course community. Use of mixed metallic textiles and finishes combined with lucite furniture allows the view and bold oversized art to become the visual centerpieces of each space. Large sculptural light fixtures fill the height created by the soaring vaulted ceilings. Lux fabrics mixed with chrome or lucite create a contemporary feel to the space without losing the soft comforts that make this space feel like home.

The bright floors and walls accentuate the dark details and balance the space. With huge windows and even a glass door, this space is never lacking natural light and a view of nature.

The entry into the home is covered in a graphic black, white and gray print. A brass and stone entry table has a brass mirror above it. The walnut slatted bench has a coatrack above it, echoing the slatted lines.

Oversized mahogany castle-style front doors aged by chain make way to the grand atrium entranceway setting the tone for the house. Old fashioned nails from America were used to complete the entrance doors.
