Simply Home DecoratingThis 1990's home, located in North Vancouver's Lynn Valley neighbourhood, had high ceilings and a great open plan layout but the decor was straight out of the 90's complete with sponge painted walls in dark earth tones. The owners, a young professional couple, enlisted our help to take it from dated and dreary to modern and bright. We started by removing details like chair rails and crown mouldings, that did not suit the modern architectural lines of the home. We replaced the heavily worn wood floors with a new high end, light coloured, wood-look laminate that will withstand the wear and tear from their two energetic golden retrievers. Since the main living space is completely open plan it was important that we work with simple consistent finishes for a clean modern look. The all white kitchen features flat doors with minimal hardware and a solid surface marble-look countertop and backsplash. We modernized all of the lighting and updated the bathrooms and master bedroom as well. The only departure from our clean modern scheme is found in the dressing room where the client was looking for a more dressed up feminine feel but we kept a thread of grey consistent even in this more vivid colour scheme. This transformation, featuring the clients' gorgeous original artwork and new custom designed furnishings is admittedly one of our favourite projects to date!

The Gall Group: Design | Build | RemodelThis 1980's bedroom and master bathroom suite was completed gutted and updated with a fresh transitional look. The original fireplace was updated by moving up and narrowing the firebox. Eldorado cultured stone was used floor to ceiling. The floating stained maple wood mantel ties into the new maple stained cabinetry in the master bathroom. The walls were painted a very pale ice blue, creating a calming, relaxing space.
MARK IV Builders, IncWe cut skylights into the sitting area portion of the master bedroom suite to provide more natural light. The railing around the staircase is removable so that furniture can be moved in and out of the attic. The flooring is fossilized bamboo.
Liz Levin InteriorsWe completely renovated this bedroom with new flooring, new paint on the walls, new baseboards, a new ceiling fan and we refinished the existing closet doors.
For the furniture, we chose simple forms that leaned into mid-century modern style while staying true to the coastal, South Florida roots our client was craving.
To obtain our coastal vibe, we used light colored wood finishes, linen and mud cloth textures for the bedding, and chose a white, blue and green color palette.
Belltown Design LLCThis small bedroom allows for a double size bed, and with that, we mounted articulating wall sconces behind the headboard for reading. With no room for bedside table, we placed a mini desk and stool at the window, the round wall mirror to make the room seem larger. We love the brass detail in this design! JR Floors and Window CoveringsLaminate is a durable floor that offers photorealistic images and grain patterns to provide the look of hardwood floors and other premium materials such as slate and stone at a much more affordable cost. They resist dents better than hardwood flooring and are well suited to any area of the home except for wet areas such as full bathrooms.
Laminate is made from four layers: a clear top layer infused with aluminum oxide to resist scratching and wear; a design layer, which features a photographic image of real wood flooring; a core, which gives the laminate its strength and structure; and a backing layer that provides additional support and stability.
Laminate floors differ in three basic ways: thickness, warranties, and wear ratings.
