The island is a dark charcoal with cool undertones that coordinates with the cabinetry and transom work in both the neighboring mudroom and breakfast area. White subway tile, quartz countertops, white enamel pendants and gold fixtures complete the update. The ends of the island are shiplap material that is also used on the fireplace in the next room. In the new mudroom, we used a fun porcelain tile on the floor to get a pop of pattern, and walnut accents add some warmth. Each child has their own cubby, and there is a spot for shoes below a long bench. Open shelving with spots for baskets provides additional storage for the room. This stunning Coastal Inspired Kitchen is located in a Garden House at the rear of a large victorian in Newcastle County Down. The homeowners built the property for when their children return home from the Mainland Uk during the holidays, and other visiting friends and family. The stunning two story lodge has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a lounge with wood burning stove, a utility room, and dining area off this kitchen. Only the best materials and finishes were used in the kitchen including Quartz, Painted Wood, American Oak and Nickel. The custom palette has a subtle but rich coastal look, in smooth painted Cadet Blue & Porcelain. The compact kitchen still manages to house a fridge freezer, larder, pullout bins, dishwasher and other pullout storage systems. There's even a compact mobile island that will double as a drinks trolley for sunny summer barbeques. Visually the space looks larger with clever tricks such as a white induction hob, integrated cooker hood, undermount quartz sink, bench seating and even a 4in1 boiling water tap, alleviating the need for a kettle, or water filter jug. The overall space is both timeless and elegant.

In this total gut and reconfiguration of the kitchen and adjacent spaces, a seamless marriage of farmhouse aesthetic with materials that are already in the home create a space that integrates with the feeling of the original home. Significant changes to the layout and removal of walls has created an open concept living, larger kitchen area, and an organized and functional kitchen space. New French doors connect to the outdoors and introduce more light into the space, as well as increased recessed and accent lighting assist in generating a light-filled home. The new layout provides an open, inviting entertaining space where children can play in the den while meals are prepared on the oversized island.

Interior Designer Kim recently revealed their backyard update with poolside decor and comfortable quarters for Lowcountry relaxation at its finest. Now, it’s the interior’s turn. Kim approached their living and dining areas with the goal of creating durable spaces with Coastal Chic design, warm aesthetics and a touch of Bohemian and Rustic flair.
