All the wood used in the remodel of this ranch house in South Central Kansas is reclaimed material. Berry Craig, the owner of Reclaimed Wood Creations Inc. searched the country to find the right woods to make this home a reflection of his abilities and a work of art. It started as a 50 year old metal building on a ranch, and was striped down to the red iron structure and completely transformed. It showcases his talent of turning a dream into a reality when it comes to anything wood. Show him a picture of what you would like and he can make it!

Salle de bain + WC en bois

LA RIVIERE DE CARREAUX

Après avoir réalisé des travaux dans l’appartement de Monsieur et Madame R., ces clients sont revenus vers nous pour rénover leur salle d’eau ainsi qu’un WC. Dans le prolongement de leur couloir en carrelage effet bois, ils ont souhaité garder la même ambiance pour leur salle de bains et leurs toilettes. Nous leur avons donc proposé le même carrelage imitation parquet pour créer une unité entre les différentes pièces. Les carreaux font 20 x 120 cm et ont été posé comme du vrai parquet ce qui permet de donner un aspect très réaliste. Pour diminuer l’effet « carrelage » le carreleur à réalisé des joins colorés. Pour mettre en valeur ce bois, nous avons conseillé aux clients un carrelage blanc mat grand format afin d’agrandir au maximum la douche. Dans les WC nous avons créé la même ambiance : bois et blanc. Les clients ont fait faire un meuble sur mesure blanc et marron foncé reprenant les nœuds du carrelage.

Internally, we designed these Japanese inspired Naguri patterned privacy and ventilation screens. Because of the way the panels are cut at 45 degree angles, users can see out into the undergrowth but anyone passing by cannot see into the bathroom. Retractable bamboo screens cover the windows. To the left you can see one closed and to the right is one open. Dividing the two materials is a piece of live-edge chestnut. It became clear early on that leaving timber in its most natural state is what our clients wanted. A style we have come to love. The Trobolo compostable loo has been a massive success. Credit to Trobolo who have managed to develop a compostable loo that doesn’t smell (when used properly).

The pedestal this Granite sink sits upon is made out of the entire width of an Okoume tree. After consulting with our clients we decided not to plumb in the drainage of the sink. The water would only seep into the ground unnecessarily. Instead it is collected in a bowl and used to water the thirsty surrounding Lemon trees.

Exterior shot- As you can see: from the outside you cant see past the ventilation and privacy panels due to the angle they are cut at. Simple, single bolts are one of the few man-made materials used on this project. Others include: plumbing and rope. We tried to keep this list to an absolute minimum to echo the structures surroundings.

We carefully sited the bathroom beneath the shade of the surrounding Olive and Fig trees to keep the space cool, preventing the Trobolo compostable loo from overheating. To the left you can see the afternoon sun breaking through the trees. The way the four different natural materials (three timber, 1 stone) respond to light is encapsulating.

浴室リフォームのデザイン、レイアウト、費用

浴室リフォームの技法には大きく分けて「在来工法」と「ユニットバス (システムバス)」の2通りがあります。

在来工法：「在来工法」とは、壁、床、窓枠、浴槽などを実際の現場で左官、大工、タイル職人等が作り上げていく技法で、浴室の大きさや形に合わせて自由にレイアウトをデザインできたり、趣のあるタイルで壁を演出することができたりといった点が利点と言えます。昔ながらのこの技法には、費用が高い、工期が長い、年数が経つと水漏れの心配がある、などの注意点があります。
ユニットバス（システムバス）：比較的新しいこの技法は、予め工場で生産されたパーツ (壁、バスタブ、シャワーユニットなど) を現場で組み立てていく技法で、防水性、断熱性に優れ、工期を短縮できるだけでなく、費用も大幅に抑えることができます。在来工法と比べると、デザインやレイアウトの自由度が低い点が欠点としてあげられます。

浴室にプラスアルファでお風呂タイムをもっと楽しく

介護が必要な方には、浴室に浴槽手すりやシャワーチェア、すべり止めマットなどの安全グッズを使って、癒やしの時間を安全にゆっくりと楽しんでもらいましょう。浴室に床暖房を取り入れると、冬場のあのヒンヤリ感がなくなり、ヒートショックの防止に効果が期待できます。大粒のお湯が頭上から降り注ぐように全身を包み込むレインシャワー水栓は、効率的に身体を温めてくれます。また最近では、浴室テレビを装備して、あたたかいお湯に浸かりながらテレビ番組や映画を楽しむ方も増えています。ライフスタイルにあわせて、浴室をカスタマイズしてみてはいかがでしょうか？

ラクラク片付け、快適な浴室！

シャンプーやコンディショナーのボトルや、浴槽洗いのブラシは、ワイヤーラック、つっぱりコーナーラック、吸盤シェルフなど壁面収納グッズを活用して、浴室の使いやすい場所に設置しましょう。ボディスポンジなど、肌に触れるものはお掃除グッズから離れた場所に置き、しっかり水切りができるよう吸盤フックなどにかけるといいでしょう。また、浴室内には必要なアイテムだけをセレクトして置き、余分なモノは浴室外の脱衣所の棚に保管するなどの工夫も、お風呂場を清潔に保つコツです。風呂ふたも、フックやスタンド等を使って収納し、しっかり乾燥させれば、カビやぬめりの発生を防ぐことができます。

ホテルのようなバスルームをつくるコツ

ホテルライクなバスルームに誰しもが憧れたことがあるでしょう。すっきりとした収納、余計なものやプライベート感がない、トイレとバスが一緒の三点ユニットでも清潔感があるのがホテルのバスルームの特徴です。このようなシンプルな印象のバスルームにするコツは、収納をできるかぎり1カ所にまとめるということです。タオルや着替え、トイレットペーパーや洗剤など溢れがち (しかもバスルームに置きがち) な日用品のストックは、必要分だけをコンパクトに整理して、同素材や同系色の収納ボックスやラックにまとめることで、全体を統一感ある印象に見せます。ところで、このようなホテルライクなバスルームはアメリカのバスルームが元になっていますが、アメリカの Houzz サイトの特集記事 (Story) には、“Bathroom 1 1/2” や “Bathroom 3/4” などと表記されているものがあります。これは、バスルームを「バスタブ」、「シャワー」、「トイレ」、「洗面台」の4つ分けて、それぞれ 1/4 と考え、4つすべてある場合は ”Bathroom 1”、それに加えてトイレと洗面台がもう1カ所ずつある場合は “Bathroom 1 1/2”、シャワー、トイレ、洗面台だけでバスタブがない場合は “Bathroom 3/4” のように表現されます。
