Linear drains are sleek and unique. They allow for a continuous clean line across the edge of the shower floor. Beautiful as well as efficient. Why have a minor detail such as a drain interrupt a cohesive design of a rejuvenating space such as this master bath.

We helped take this master ensuite bathroom from the 70's and into the present. Thankfully we had lots of room to work with. These clients like the layout of their current space but wanted it to match the rest of their home. With a craftsman style and pops of color, we were able to help them achieve their dream.

This couple's long-term water leak left their downstairs guest bathroom in disarray. It had gotten so bad that the toilet would actually rock due to the sub-floor deterioration. After the remodel, this small but mighty bathroom leaves a memorable impression on its guests, primarily because of its efficient footprint and bold use of color. This project became necessary after a long- term water leak left the floor tile broken and the subfloor deteriorating.
Once underway, we set out to determine what other problems we could help solve in this guest bathroom. We explored several different floorplans for this space, but we ultimately decided that the general location of the fixtures worked well for these homeowners. One of the primary concerns was to determine how we could include as much vanity storage as possible. Their old vanity included a shallow section next to the toilet, but it only had two shallow top drawers, making the bulk of the storage awkward and hard to access. Although they liked the size of their old shower stall, the plastic insert was corroding. They also didn't have anywhere to place their shower products, and there was no place to hang a towel. We opted for a tiled shower and included a shampoo niche for their bath products. We also included a horizontal shower door handle, which doubles as a towel bar.

DOWNLOAD NOW   This client came to us in a bit of a panic when she realized that she really wanted her bathroom to be updated by March 1st due to having 2 daughters getting married in the spring and one graduating. We were only about 5 months out from that date, but decided we were up for the challenge. The beautiful historical home was built in 1896 by an ornithologist (bird expert), so we took our cues from that as a starting point. The flooring is a vintage basket weave of marble and limestone, the shower walls of the tub shower conversion are clad in subway tile with a vintage feel. The lighting, mirror and plumbing fixtures all have a vintage vibe that feels both fitting and up to date. To give a little of an eclectic feel, we chose a custom green paint color for the linen cabinet, mushroom paint for the ship lap paneling that clads the walls and selected a vintage mirror that ties in the color from the existing door trim. We utilized some antique trim from the home for the wainscot cap for more vintage flavor. The drama in the bathroom comes from the wallpaper and custom shower curtain, both in William Morris’s iconic “Strawberry Thief” print that tells the story of thrushes stealing fruit, so fitting for the home’s history. There is a lot of this pattern in a very small space, so we were careful to make sure the pattern on the wallpaper and shower curtain aligned. A sweet little bird tie back for the shower curtain completes the story... In this log cabin we remodeled the first floor bathroom. The homeowner built and installed all the cabinets. We installed Caesarstone Dreamy Marfil Quartz 3cm with full bullnose and 6” backsplash. Moen Brantford Collection in oil rubbed bronze includes the faucet, towel bar, toilet paper holder, double robe hook and grab bars. Two Moen Light Sconce in oil rubbed bronze were installed. On the floor is 6 x 48 wood look porcelain tile. The shower walls are Slaty Porcelain 12x12 in Orche with 9 decorative animal accent tiles. The shower floor is Slaty 2x2 mosaic tile.

Everything inside the bathroom was removed and newly installed with a smaller Jacuzzi, new vanities with bigger cabinet space, and brand new state-of-the-art shower and heated flooring. The former monotone space was replaced with carefully selected color palette to create a spacious room of comfort. The construction process required the bathroom to be entirely stripped down to its wood frame. The wall separating the shower/toilet area and the remaining bathroom was taken away. The existing closet was demolished and rebuilt at two feet away from original location to create a bigger shower. Brand new heated flooring with programmable digital thermostat was installed, along with electrical work and new marble tiling. The replacement of the Jacuzzi required new plumbing and electrical lines, a new wood frame built specifically for the tub selected by the client, and a new granite top with new modern styled faucets and drains. The new vanities allowed for extra storage space and only necessary items around the sink area. The removal of the former pocket door created a brighter area for the shower/toilet and an easier flow of circulation. Inside the shower area, a whole new set of fixtures were installed including body sprays and faucets with thermostatic valve. The shower walls were finished with moisture resistant drywall, and the innovative built-in shelf allowed for a clutter-free shower space. It also has a new style of drain, which has the ability to handle high water flow, ideal for multiple body sprays in the new shower. Its lack of visible screws is also comfortable for the foot when showering. The final outcome of the bathroom remodeling was exactly what the client had been searching for: updated vanities and shower, more standing area, and detail designs of everything. All the fixtures throughout the bathroom have been replaced with a simple, modern design that better suits the client’s lifestyle. The entire color composition of the backsplash, mirror frame, countertop, cabinets and tiling added a comfortable and warm atmosphere to a better functioning room. Visit us at www.dremodeling.com!
