The bathroom adjacent to the primary bedroom in this historic home was a poor excuse for an owner’s ensuite bath. A small single vanity and toilet pushed against one wall and a tub/shower combo with a tiny bit of storage on the other side, leaving a lot of wasted space in between was not fit to be a primary bathroom. By utilizing the window wall in a creative way, the bathroom square footage was able to be maximized. Mirrors suspended in front of the windows solved the issue of placing the vanity in front of them. The shower cubicle was placed on the opposite wall, leaving room for an elegant free-standing tub, to replace the cheap tub/shower insert. Whimsical tiles, custom built-ins, and a heated floor upleveled the space which is now worthy of being call an Ensuite bathroom.

The clients summer vacation home had an extra large walk-in closet in the primary bedroom. Since the room did not have an attached bathroom, and an oversized closet wasn't necessary with it being a seasonal home and having an excess of storage elsewhere- we decided to use the space to create a Primary Suite. The client picked a wonderful blue palette that compliments the views of the lake outside so perfectly. We added a custom double vanity with plenty of storage, a large, glass walk-in shower and lots of pretty details she picked out in all the tile work.

We planned a thoughtful redesign of this beautiful home while retaining many of the existing features. We wanted this house to feel the immediacy of its environment. So we carried the exterior front entry style into the interiors, too, as a way to bring the beautiful outdoors in. In addition, we added patios to all the bedrooms to make them feel much bigger. Luckily for us, our temperate California climate makes it possible for the patios to be used consistently throughout the year. The original kitchen design did not have exposed beams, but we decided to replicate the motif of the 30" living room beams in the kitchen as well, making it one of our favorite details of the house. To make the kitchen more functional, we added a second island allowing us to separate kitchen tasks. The sink island works as a food prep area, and the bar island is for mail, crafts, and quick snacks. We designed the primary bedroom as a relaxation sanctuary – something we highly recommend to all parents. It features some of our favorite things: a cognac leather reading chair next to a fireplace, Scottish plaid fabrics, a vegetable dye rug, art from our favorite cities, and goofy portraits of the kids. --- Project designed by Courtney Thomas Design in La Cañada. This was a huge transformation of a very small guest bathroom. We were limited by the architecture and used tricks to make the space look and feel larger. We were able to expand the footprint of the shower by removing walls and using pony walls and glass as an enclosure. The white wall tile was chosen specifically as using something with too much color would make the space feel smaller. The waves are vertical which tricks the eye into looking upward to the expansive ceiling without focusing on the space horizontally. Because the vanity is so small, I chose to use some "bling" for the hardware to make it feel special. We used the stone countertop to frame the pony walls as well as the soap insert in the shower and the scrub step. There isn't room in this bathroom for a shower seat so we used a scrub step where you can put your foot to lather up or to shave your legs.

This modern bathroom design in Cohasset is a striking, stylish room with a Tedd Wood Luxury Line Cabinetry Monticello door style vanity in a vibrant blue finish with black glaze that includes both open and closed storage. The cabinet finish is beautifully contrasted by an Alleanza Calacatta Bettogli polished countertop, with the sills, built in shower bench and back splash all using the same material supplied by Boston Bluestone. Atlas Hardwares Elizabeth Collection in warm brass is the perfect hardware to complement the blue cabinetry in this vibrant bathroom remodel, along with the Kate & Laurel Minuette 24 x 36 mirror in gold and Mitzi Anya wall sconces in brass. The vanity space includes two Kohler Archer undermount sinks with Grohe Atrio collection faucets. The freestanding Victoria + Albert Trivento bathtub pairs with a Grohe Atrio floor mounted tub faucet. The tub area includes a custom designed archway and recessed shelves that make this a stunning focal point in the bathroom design. The custom alcove shower enclosure includes a built in bench, corner shelves, and accent tiled niche, along with Grohe standard and handheld showerheads. The tile selections from MSI are both a practical and stylish element of this design with Dymo Stripe White 12 x 24 glossy tile on the shower walls, Bianco Dolomite Pinwheel polished tile for the niche, and Georama Grigio polished tile for the shower floor. The bathroom floor is Bianco Dolomite 12 x 24 polished tile. Every element of this bathroom design works together to create a stunning, vibrant space.

To gain more space for the bathroom, we relocated the existing laundry room to upstairs. Custom drawers that hug the plumbing under the vanity provide additional storage and improve functionality. Warm brass fixtures and accessories reflect light—and the nautical theme. The linear tile detail draws the eye up and nautical details include a mirror with rope detailing and ship light sconces.

This eclectic bathroom design in East Lansing has a gorgeous Decora vanity cabinet with a custom blue finish that sets the tone for the space. The honey bronze Top Knobs hardware complements the cabinetry with a warm tone that also blends well with the two copper sinks and sink faucets. A light quartz countertop accents these features beautifully, and the entire design is pulled together by the wood look ceramic tile floor with a geometric pattern. A glass mosaic Olympia tile feature in the shower offers an eye catching focal point that highlights the brushed bronze shower fixtures.

The mirror was a $20 find at a Habitat ReStore and the wall mount fixture is a ceiling fixture from Ikea. The towel rack is meant to emulate the kind found in a bowling alley. It's merely a drawer pull.
